I first looked at this schedule last night and my first reaction was one of deep disappointment. I guess it seems that no matter which channels you claim as your favorites or which side of the Canada/USA border you live on, not one of these stations cares much about showing the classic old sitcoms anymore, preferring to go for the quick fix with 80s and 90s shows along with those awful reality shows that never go away. This news is particularly hard to swallow with the recent death of Eddie Albert. As a tribute to this great TV actor, not one national cable or digital TV station in Canada will be showing "Green Acres" in 2005! Isn't that awful? But not as bad as what PRIME has just done.

The big news is the addition of "Seinfeld", which I happen to hate with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns! (I saw that on another website and I couldn't resist adding it here!) But it shows up at the expense of 2 of my favorites, "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "I Dream Of Jeannie", which are now kaput, at least until Sept., giving me even less reason to enjoy TV, which was bad enough without NHL hockey to watch for a year and now this happens. Of course, like all tragedies, this could have been averted. Look further down the list at 8 o'clock. Does anyone outside of Canada even remember or care about "Danger Bay"? More to the point, will anyone in Canada actually watch it? That would have been the perfect place to put "Seinfeld", or, they could have done this while still sparing the afternoon schedule:

8 to 9: Seinfeld

9 to 10: All In The Family

10 to 11: MASH

Any combination of these three shows between 8 and 11 (instead of between 9 to 12 which they made instead) could have meant better ratings for PRIME since "Prime Time" really begins at 8, but as usual they messed up but good!

If there's any reason to remain optimistic about the fall offering better things,
it's because I remember last summer PRIME had what I thought was a killer schedule---one of their best ever, in fact---but, sadly, it only lasted a couple
of months. That's it! If I remember correctly, it included the following:

Three's Company
Bonanza
Dragnet 1968
The Dick Van Dyke Show
The Golden Girls
MASH
All In The Family
Bewitched
Petticoat Junction
Beverly Hillbillies

Now how can you complain about a schedule like that? Maybe that was the problem---it was too good! So naturally they yanked it after a couple of months. I'm hoping, and praying heavily, the same thing happens again this time around.

I'm getting fed up with Prime as well.

First of all All in The Family and M*A*S*H are on this station for so long, that I'm getting sick of both of those shows. And it seems that Prime is airing way too many M*A*S*H marathons. Both of these shows have to go. I miss Mc Hale's Navy. They took it off on both Prime and Deja View completely. I've e-mail them several times, but never got any answers back on it.

Their "Friday Night Movies" specials are a joke as well. They are just as bad when TBS had their stupid "Dinner and a Movie" specials on Friday Nights. Nothing but corny movies that you've already seen a million times on other channels.

As for Seinfeld, this show is already airing on at least 10 different channels on my satellite dish, why does Prime have to add it on?

It's sad. I'm just waiting now for Nick@Nite to add this show to their schedule. Why not? Both stations basically copy-cat each other for these over played comedies.

If that isn't bad enough, PRIME is planning a "Seinfeld" marathon for Saturday, June 11 from 12-6 pm, thus completely ruining the best day of the week for programming on their station.

Jenya,

I think you better watch what you tell these people in your next e-mail. There might be more of these unpleasant 'surprises' ahead, but, if it helps, I'm completely in your corner.

is Seinfeld not as commonly shown up north as it is in the US? here, not a day goes by without at least 4 episodes of Seinfeld airing on several different channels

Yes. It's on way too many channels. If I had cable in Montreal, it would be on 5 times a day. But I have free-to-air satellite, and it's on at least 10 Channels. And Prime has to air it 4 times a day now?

Sal, PRIME and Nick@Nite seems to play the same dumb games with their viewers. They seem to be airing shows that they think their auidences would want to watch. I don't know if you get U.S satellite, but both Prime and Nick@Nite seem to be on the same wavelength with each other for their choice of programming.

Why does PRIME repeat everything twice in a day? And why don't they just shove All in The Family and M*A*S*H over to DejaView, and just leave those shows over there?

God, those two shows are an eyesore on that channel. pissed:
