Default TV Shows with a promising future that got axed to soon?

Post Your Pick For A Very Promising Show That Was Neglected and Canned that could have had a bright future...

Boston Public - The First 3 Seasons Were Great In My Opinion but Fox Didn't care and threw it on death Row Friday where i forgot to watch. :flabnabbi

Mister Sterling. The writing was brilliant, the acting was superb, everything about this show was fantastic. And only nine episodes were broadcast.

Also, Keen Eddie, for the same reasons. And those are only two from the past few years. There are countless others.

Instead of listing the obvious (My So-Called Life, Popular, every NBC sitcom put after Friends between 1995-2000), I'm listing two shows that were axed when it could still be repaired.

Law and Order: Trial by Jury- It had an incredible pilot, which was possibly one of the best episodes of the entire franchise, but the remaining episodes were either too predictable or just a bad rehash of an early-period L&O episode. But given time it could've improved (L&O: SVU's first season or at least most of it was horrible). Shame, NBC!

Herman's Head- After the best debut season of any sitcom in a long time, the second season disappointed on so many levels it was almost excruciating to watch. However, you could almost hear the writers getting back up to speed come season 3. In fact, the last half ranks upon some of the best comedy of the '90s. And if the rumors about the plans for season 4 are true (Hedy was apparently to have four people inside her mind too), then it was the wrong thing to do.

I agree, those were two good shows.

FOX killed a bunch of shows that I thought had potential, like The Tick, Andy Richter, and Futurama.

Futurama at least had a good four seasons. Most of the other shows that FOX kills off without giving them a chance get far fewer episodes.

Flamingo Road!

And so what if it's a drama! And so what if it was cancelled over 20 years ago! NBC still screwed up by putting it up against "Hart to Hart."

Going back a decade or so, let me put forth Earth 2, a one-season wonder from NBC. Such potential. So many stories to tell. Thankfully, it is getting a DVD release this summer. Additionally, I have to say that after viewing a handful of episodes of both The Boys and The Building, shows that aired on CBS in 1993, the fact that both lasted only five episodes is a travesty. They both had so much going for them despite some early show jitters. So very much...

And finally, I really enjoyed the three episodes of first years that aired on NBC a few years back. I think it could have told a few good stories.
