Who played "Betsy" in the 1961 version of "The Parent Trap"?

Default "Betsy".

"Betsy" was the dark-haired girl with "Ursala" in the 1961 version of "The Parent Trap". She wore her hair in a high pony tail and hung around not only with Ursala but with Sharon as well. No, Betsy did not have a last name in the movie.

Nobody seems to know for sure. Some say it was Kay Cole. Other sources say it's Angela Cartwright.

I haven't seen that film in years. If I could see a picture of her, I could probably tell you whether or not it is Angela Cartwright.

Default Reply to Max Whittaker.

"Betsy" was not listed in the credits, but I, too, have heard that that girl was Kay Cole and Angela Cartwright.

Go to www.imdb.com to fid her name. Look under "parent trap" in the site's "movie" category.

iI agree. In most cases sequels never measure up to the originals. The first Parent Trap is cheesy by today's standards I suppose, but it has it's charm.

In 1961 Angela would have been to young(born in 1952) Maybe it was her older sister Veronica?(who played Violet Rutherford in Leave it to Beaver)?

I haven't seen Parent Trap in a long time so I don't even recall Betsy!

First pic is Veronica
Second Angela

I haven't seen the original in about 6 years. I've only seen it once so I wouldn't remember anyway. Personally I think the remake is better.

I haven't seen The Parent Trap in about twenty years, and I don't remember Betsy at all, but you all have made me curious so I did some searching. Of the several sources I've found -- mostly web sites devoted to musical theater -- they all state definitively that the actress who played Betsy was (as has already been mentioned here) Kay Cole. She was 13 at the time and later went on to originate the role of Maggie in A Chorus Line. She's currently a choreographer in L.A. and occasionally still performs.

I found a picture of her in a film called Hello Down There which she did eight years after The Parent Trap, if that's any help.

Max, Veronica Cartwright is too light in coloring to have played "Betsy", who was played by a girl with a stronger or darker coloring. I learned two years ago that "Betsy" was played by Kay Cole, whom I've looked up on the Internet, but I also read that Angela Cartwright was the girl who played "Betsy".
