Exclamation Season 2 spoilers

Let's get this started... SPOILERFIX

05/25 - Rex is really (I think) dead. Marc Cherry and Steven Culp say so themselves in next week's issue of TV Guide magazine (on sale 6/2). With Rex gone, Marc Cherry tells me "a new man will enter Bree's life and he will have a shocking secret of his own." Cherry also confirms that a new suitor will be introduced for Gabrielle who will further "complicate the relationship between her and Carlos." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TVGuide
05/24 - "Desperate Housewives" villain Roger Bart -- who plays the show's pharmacist with a homicidal bent -- will join the hit ABC series full-time next season. Source: Variety
05/23 - According to Nicollette Sheridan: "Edie will make it into the next season, yes, and so will her house," she tells me. "Her house will be built next season, and her 6-yr-old son that we heard about in the pilot is going to come visit." Jesse Metcalf is coming back next year. Source: Kristin on E!Online
05/18 - Series creator Marc Cherry told me that he's constructing a prison set for Ricardo Chavira to shoot his scenes in. "He'll be in there for a while," Cherry said. "We'll see him pulling strings from inside the jail cell." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
05/09 - Creator Marc Cherry says: "Lynette will have a job next season (returning to her advertising roots), so I want to address how difficult it is to go to work all day and then come home and be expected to also take care of your house." All Marc Cherry will say about the Applewhites is that "they come on the street; they seem like nice people - but they've got a secret. And it's pretty gothic. It's real and human and awful all at the same time." Edie will stay a fifth wheel. Because of viewers' strong reaction to Nicollette Sheridan, her character next season will be given a never-before-seen ex-husband and a 6-year-old son. But Cherry insists Edie will continue serving only as a spoiler to complicate the other women's lives. The future appears far bleaker for the show's male cast; only breakout stud Denton (Mike Delfino) is a likely candidate for series longevity. And putting into question the fate of Gabrielle's current men - lover John (Metcalfe) and husband Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), who is headed off to prison - Cherry and his writers are conceiving a new suitor for Gabrielle in Season 2. Source: USA Today (Thanks Shannon for the tip.)
05/09 - British soap star Kacey Ainsworth has been hired for a three-episode guest stint. According to one of Ainsworth's co-stars on the BBC's 'EastEnders,' Ainsworth will be playing an English nanny on 'Desperate Housewives.' This probably means she'll be joining the Scavo household to take care of Lynette's kids. Source: Get Desperate!
04/20 - "Alfre will be central to the prevailing mystery of next season." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TVGuide
04/19 - Mehcad Brooks will be upgraded to main cast members next year. Source: Get Desperate!
04/12 - Alfre Woodard joins Desperate Housewives fulltime in season 2 as a new neighbour. Source: TVGuide
03/21 - According to James Denton (Mike Delfino), next year the show will be around more often. "They're bringing us back early because they want to do more episdes," Denton told the Chicago-based Northwest Herald, when asked about the length of his summer hiatus. In addition, he said the stars of the show are going to use the break in filming to "do international press." Although Denton did not mention by how many episodes the second season will be extended, it will likely be only a few more episodes. Source: Get Desperate!
02/25 - Doug Savant, who plays Lynette's husband Tom, will be a regular castmember next season. Source: Insider@TVguide
02/13 - Considering Paul's violent streak, how long can Moses remain part of the cast before his character is stopped? Cherry says he expects to bring all three Youngs back next season — and Strong is contracted to be both heard and seen throughout the series' anticipated seven-year run. Source: USA Today [Click on the link to read the complete article] (Thanks Derrah for the tip.)

I thought Rex would be alive, but I guess not. I guess that the phamacist will be with Bree now while trying to cover up what he did.

Sounds like Bree will have a new man but George will continue stalking her(remember following her to the restaurant back in January and how do you think he knew she'd just happen to be at the market on the OTHER side of town in the episode before the finale?)

Well gee, wouldn't it be weird if George poisoned this new guy too? There's gotta be more than one pharmacy in that town.

Marc should have given him a death scene then. That was a lazy way to write a character off in my opinion.

I hope they don't have too many episodes next season. Melrose Place had up to 34 episodes a season and while the writing was good, it was boring seeing storylines dragged out that long.

I doubt we see more than 27 or 28 episodes next season. It'll probably be closer to 25 or 26. I think Grey's has 4 or 5 episodes unaired so that would be 26-27 for them and I imagine ABC would want 9-11 to be new(for both shows), not just one.

I also agree... that was a poor way to write out Rex. I still don't know if he's dead. This could just be misdirection since Season 2 hasn't started filming yet.

Yep, maybe it is a plot to get revenge on Bree.

I hope George is exposed and he loses his job. He's a creep.

Episode 2.01: Title Unknown
Airdate: September 2005

05/27 - "[Betty Applewhite] came to Wysteria Lane with something to hide, and we're going to find out exactly what she's hiding in the season premiere," [says Kevin Murphy co-executive producer]. Source: People Magazine (Thanks Tristan for typing this up for us.) [Note: Could this picture be linked to the secret she is hiding?]

05/27 - IS REX DEAD? "Dead, dead, dead," says Kevin Murphy co-executive producer. Of course "our dead characters never stay off the air for long." So expect to see Bree's kinky hubby in flashbacks. WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN TO BREE AND HER EVIL-PHARMACIST SUITOR GEORGE? "We'll be seeing more of George. And we're going to meet Rex's mother. She's going to lock horns with Bree." NOW THAT HIS DAD IS DEAD, WILL ANDREW CONTINUE HIS MALICIOUS PLAN TO DESTROY MOM BREE? "Danielle [Andrew's sister] saw Bree lolly gagging while Rex was having a heart attack. That may color his opinion. Sometimes he will express his rage in very inappropriate ways. We've got something big in the works for Andrew." WHAT'S UP WITH THE MYSTERIOUS NEW MOTHER-AND-SON NEIGHBORS (ALFRE WOODARD AND MEHCAD BROOKS)? "Definitely keep an eye of Alfre Woodard's character. She came to Wysteria Lane with something to hide, and we're going to find out exactly what she's hiding in the season premiere. There's a reason they moved in the middle of the night, and there's a reason they moved themselves." DID JOHN DECIDE TO TAKE ON CARLOS FIGURING THAT CARLOS WOULD BE SAFELY LOCKED AWAY IN JAIL? "We did two scenes explaining that - one with a happy ending for John, one without - and we decided not to run either of them until next season." LET'S PLAY WHO'S THE DADDY? ... FIRST GABRIELLE'S BABY: CARLOS OR JOHN? "We have never seen her take a paternity test," says Murphy. "For now, it's in her interest to let Carlos believe it's his." AND ZACH? ID MIKE THE PLUMBER THE CREEPY TEEN'S REAL DAD? "We strongly implied that Mike thinks that at least. Whether that's actually true, we'll have to wait and see." Source: People Magazine (Thanks Tristan for typing this up for us.)

More spoilers:

Susan survives her season-ending hostage ordeal - sets out to unravel the mysterious past of frosty new neighbours Betty Applewhite and son Matthew. Little does Susna know "Applewhite" is a name assigned to them by the federal Witness Protection Program

Jealousy will rear its ugly head in the Scavo house after frazzeled Lynette returns to work and hubby Tom mananges the household and kids far better than she did! Also in the works: an unexpected friendship betwen Tom and vixen Edie that'll have Lynette worrying

Rex Van De Camp is REALLY dead! But just because he suffered a fatal heart attack in the past season's finale - triggered by jealous druggist George - doesn't mean we've seen the last of him! Look for Rex in flashbacks. With Rex out of the way, widow Bree realises she no longer needs love sick George hanging around and she lands a new suitor, who naturally has a very bizarre past. Still, George won't be gotten rid of that easily!

Metcalfe's departure will obviously curb the appetite of man-hungry Gabby, who will find that juggling hubby Carlos and John and being pregnant by she's-not-quite-sure-which-one isn't enough to satisfy her high-octane libido. It seems that she requires yet another lover.

We can expect an episode dealing with how all the Wisteria Lane residents came to live there.

From GetDesperate:

When Desperate Housewives returns for its second season in September, some of the ladies on Wisteria Lane will be sucked even further into the problems they faced in the first-season finale, while others will be using the opportunity to make a clean break.

Get Desperate! sources today revealed that Lynette Scavo falls into the latter category, as a large part of the second-season premiere will be devoted to her search for a new career in advertising. Lynette begins her job hunt with a lot of bravado, thinking her impressive resumé and good people skills will land her a good position in no time. But she quickly learns that the advertising world has changed a lot since the time she left it -- when she brags about having a rolodex that money can't buy, she's quickly reminded that everyone uses computers now. And things get worse when her prospective boss, a thirty-year old career woman, finds out Lynette left the advertising business to raise not one but four kids, and launches into a tirade about co-workers who always miss appointments because of baseball games and dance recitals. Has Lynette been marked for life?

But even if Lynette is challenged by having to prove she's not an obsolete dinosaur, at least she's making an effort to get back in the game. For Bree van de Kamp, the season opener will mostly be about getting some closure on the events from "One Wonderful Day." In one scene, she'll have to visit the hospital morgue in order to confirm that it's really her husband who died. When the coroner lifts up the sheet to reveal Rex's body, that should put to rest all rumors that Rex didn't really die in last year's season finale.

Meanwhile, Gabrielle will end up with a broken arm, her boyfriend John in jail, the police suspicious of her, and Carlos in even further trouble after he makes a desperate attempt to get his revenge on John. But with both her lovers in jail, could this be the catalyst that leads Gabrielle to her new love interest (story)? And it seems another of the characters on the show will be losing their father -- amid suspicious circumstances that make it seem like he was the victim of blackmail, and could easily set off a long quest for revenge by one of his surviving family members...

Please note that the above plot details have not been confirmed by ABC or Touchstone Television, and until such time you should treat this information as you would any other rumor. Spoiler information like this often comes from early script versions and some story details are liable to change before the episodes are shown. The Desperate Housewives season premiere, the title of which is not yet known, is expected to air on the 2nd of October, 2005.

http://www.getdesperate.com/news/180705_03.shtml

Once Desperate Housewives settles into its regular pace again next season, viewers will see one Housewife find increasing success as she trades in the kitchen for a posh office all of her own, while other Housewives still try to cope with fall-out from the season premiere.

Get Desperate! sources today revealed that Gabrielle Solis is one of the characters who just seems to be digging herself further and further into a hole. As reported last week, in the first episode of the season, Gabrielle is faced with having both her husband Carlos and her clandestine lover John Rowland in jail. In this second episode, she agrees to go on an errand for the dangerous felon who's sharing a cell with John. She nervously heads over to a shabby neighbourhood to deliver an envelope containing $7,000 in cash to the felon's young wife, and then is stunned when she refuses to accept the money.

Gabrielle tries to convince the wife to take the money -- can't she use it to take care of her kids? The wife laughs in Gabrielle's face. Sure, it'd be useful, but what her sorry excuse for a husband wants her to do with the money is get a boob job. Gabrielle is impressed by the wife's refusal to take the money -- and then, as the door closes on her, she realises she suddenly owns an extra seven thousand dollars. With Carlos no longer bringing in his plush salary, that money will come in very handy...

Lynette Scavo won't have to resort to such desperate measures to feed her children. This episode will show one of her first days on the job at the advertising agency that hired her in the season opener. She has to listen to pitches from hotshot copywriters young enough to be her children, and try to make sense of hare-brained commercial ideas featuring rats being evicted from their homes - "but not in a sad way," as one of the copywriters cautions.

While Lynette is easily able to handle challenges like this, it seems like the agency won't require her to be a career woman 100% of the time, as the season opener has apparently been rewritten to make her boss more sympathetic to her role as a mother. Whereas previously Lynette was just going to trade sports jokes with her prospective boss in the season opener, the reworked version has her going through a crisis when she has to take her baby Penny in to her job interview and leave her in the care of a secretary. But when the secretary is unable to handle Penny, Lynette's maternal instincts kick in, and she takes Penny back into the interview room with her. One of the female executives wants to turn her down straightaway, but the head of the agency, a married man with kids of his own, is more understanding. When Lynette demonstrates her multi-tasking skills by changing Penny's diaper while delivering her pitch to him, he's sold and hires her on the spot.

Besides Lynette and Gabrielle, all the other main characters will also get their fair share of stories in this episode. There's Bree, apparently suffering from insomnia since the death of Rex, and trying to convince her doctors to give her ever-stronger sleeping pills -- but is she really planning to use them just to get a good night's rest? There's Edie, who agrees with one of the building contractors working on her house that it's shameless how some of her neighbours loudly fight out their quarrels on the street -- then tries to get closer so she can hear what the fight's about. And then there's the fallout from the death of another character in the season premiere. Just like last week, it's still unknown exactly which character will be buying the farm -- but it promises to be the cause of several new crises, as more family members of the deceased character butt in on the situation in most unwelcome ways.

Please note that the above plot details have not been confirmed by ABC or Touchstone Television, and until such time you should treat this information as you would any other rumor. Spoiler information like this often comes from early script versions and some story details are liable to change before the episodes are shown.

The second Desperate Housewives episode of the second season, the title of which is not yet known, is currently expected to air on Sunday the 9th of October, 2005.
