Default Match Game

Who remembers the 70's game show, Match Game hosted by Gene Rayburne? I'm 23 almost 24 soon and I love the match game. I watch it everyday on GSN. I also like panelists. I go on-line once and a while to see what they are up to, who's alive, who's dead, etc., I don't like the Match Game hosted by another guy in the 90's.

"Match Game" is still the show ever on GSN. Gene Rayburn was the best and so did the 1990 version with Ross Shafer.

Me too! Fannie's just as funny as Brett and Charles, I think.

I love Match Game! I watch it everyday on my lunch hour! Gene is the best. One thing bothers me - it's almost as if the stars picked their favorite contestants and then came up with totally off the wall answers for the other contestant. You know like if the question was something like "Scary Sam was so scary...[How scary was he? ] when the neighborhood kids saw him, they all BLANKED. So the contestant would answer something like "screamed" or "ran away" or something, but the stars would say something like "went in the house and watched tv" or "went to the store to buy scary juice" or something really dumb (even dumber than the contestant's answer), but for the favored contestant, usually no matter how obscure a question was, the star's usually all matched except for Fannie or Patty (usually on the bottom right - not Betty White though - she was usually dead on, too) because they would come up with the absolute dumbest answers. Rarely did Fannie or Patty come up with a match - and that is usually only when the non-regulars didn't screw up and actually matched a non-favored contestant.

Maybe I'm imagining all of this in my cynical little world, but I don't think I am.

Talking

The remake was called What The Blank was hosted by Fred Willard and it was piloted for FOX but they just passed on it, Maybe syndication would be picking it up. It'll make it to air.

Default Match Game

Match Game was so fun on so many levels-
first,The totally unscripted off the wall antics of the panel and Gene RayBurn.(Like the time Gene Climbed up into the audience or the time the cast of The Carol Burnett show unexpectedly walked on the set and Played a round of the game)
Second,It is a great show to watch to learn how to read body language.Watch the stars right before they reveal an answer on the Super Match portion of the game (where the contestant goes for the big money). Richard Dawson is THE master of masking (It's a body language techique where you don't reveal anything with your body language. It takes real skill to do it)
Third,The wit of Richard Dawson. He always had a funny line.If you wanted to win on Match Game, any regular viewer knew to call on him.He was amazing accurate on many matchs and In my opinion was definately one of the reasons for its success. The show wasn't the same once he left.
reason 4- Amazing Moments.During a week when Paul Williams and Betty white were Panelists,Betty made a funny insult about Paul.He was brillant in the way he took her comment and made it into a compliment.
reason5- the wackiness of Gene Rayburn
Finally ,the interaction among Gene Rayburn,Richard Dawson, Brett Somers,Charles Nelson Reiley,Betty White,Fannie Flagg and some of the other semi-regulars was pure Fun.
Without a doubt-one of the best Game shows ever and it still holds up good today.
