Question Why leave enough Star Wars story gap that could have filled another movie?

I think the problem I had with Episode III is that we pretty much knew what was going to happen, and it ends with Darth Vader just coming into being, basically being born.
It's like, now Anakin's Vader - The end.

But between the ending of Episode III and A New Hope there is a ton on stuff that happened THAT WE DON'T KNOW.

Think about it:

-We never got to see Vader's early days, his first missions, the first Vader in action stuff.

-Luke and Leia are just born when episode III ends.
What about those 18 (whatever) years? (from episode 1 to 2 they jump less time!)

-What about the rise of the Empire and the formation of the new order?

-What about the beginning of the Rebellion?

Episode III should have been episode II.
And this story I speak of should have been episode III.

I don't care how you rearrange the first two.

I will agree that I would have liked to see another movie which would fill in the gap better. I liked all the prequels but the one I think that could have been eliminated was the Phantom Menace.

I think it was left open for all the books to pickup. I imagine they'll start peeking out in the next year.

That's what I was thinking too. There are may questions that need to be answered.

In Episode 3, the Senate applauded Palpatine's decision to become Emperor
and wipe out the Jedi, but how long will it take before they (and the rest of the galaxy) realize what a bad idea that was?
- Will the people ever find out that Palpatine is actually the Sith responsible for the Clone War?
- And what about Darth Vader? What will be the general reaction from people when the see that Palpatine's right hand man is a tall guy in a black helmet and mask?

I always thought the Rebellion against the Empire had only begun a short time before the events of Episode 4, and since Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) was the only one besides Yoda and Obi-Wan who knew the truth behind Palpatine's coup, it took him all those years to gather enough allies to start the revolution.

So many questions...

We already know how luke grows up and they can focus a little on that but leia had a very important role in ep IV and id like to see how she became a princess when first of all she was raised by bail organa and his wife, and her mother allthough was a queen she was just a senator when she died. but something i remember telling my brother back when ep IV a new hope came out i said i thought that ben kenobi was living on tatooine to watch over luke and was there for that sole purpose, my brother said i was wrong and that he just decided to move there to retire. look a jedi has been all over the galaxie had seen many many worlds and he picks tatooine to retire on? i mean this world is considered to be the garbage dump of the galaxie of all the worlds why would obi wan choose this one? well in ep III it tells us that he was there for the training of qui gon that has somehow returned i guess as another person, and to watch over luke.

The question I have is, was that alderon that bail organa lives on? if it was said i didnt catch it.

I still think that Luke Skywalker is the best jedi.

Yes Alderon is the home planet for Bail Organa.

There was one little hole left in the 'Sith' movie. If you remember Empire Strikes Back, Obie Wan and Yoda watch Luke leave Yoda's planet. While he is leaving, Obie Wan says "He is our last hope," and Yoda replies, "No, there is another." (referring to Leia) Shouldn't have Obie Wan knew that? In the Sith movie, he was present for the birth of the twins. He should've known that Leia was born with Jedi blood as well.

Your right they did miss that, well even the experts on star wars are not always consistant, I think they should consult the fans, yes I think yodas planet was degaba or degava, thing is remember when yoda said to obi wan about luke, there is much anger in him like his father, there was not nearly as much anger in luke as was with anakin.

I think it was more that Obi-Wan was denying that Leia would be able to take on Vader. Or, at the least, Lucas can use that as his excuse.

From what I understand, the proposed TV series will take place between the events of Episode III and Episode IV. Which, IMO, makes the best sense.
