Default Favorite Moments plus over the edge jokes!

My favorite moments that are in the show are kind of RISCAE for television of that time, some even today.

I love the episode where Tennesse Ernie Ford visits and the Lucy pretends to be a wicked city woman (prostitute). Of course in the 50's they couldn't say prostitute on TV, and besides i think everyone got the joke. then when Ernie Ford yells at Lucy "Come back here you HEFER."

I about died. That is hillarious, I can't believe they could do that in 50's TV.

I also like the episode "Fan Magazine Interview" where lucy thinks Ricky is having an affair so she goes to this womans apartment asking for the woman on the card (a special invitation for Ricky's club, Jerry's promotional idea). The woman who answers the door is nasty looking and the woman asks lucy "Your name ain't Kinsey is it?" Kinsey in the 1950's went to people's doorstep interviewing females about their sexual behaviors.

Also I love the part where the gang heads to california and they get thrown in jail. In the meantime Ernie ford tries to get them out by marrying the sheriff's daughter Tinsey.

Those two twins are so horrible at singing and it is hillarious when they sing Ricashay Romance, I about peed my pants.

One other joke ernie said was refering to Tennessee people

"Why do you call us Cousin?" asks lucy or ricky (cant remember)
"Because in tennessee, every one is everyone elses cousin." Ernie Ford replys (referring to incest).

I appreciate this show even more that it tried to do daring things in the 50's that most glossed over sitcoms didn't even try.

So that's who Kinsey was! I was wondering what was so funny about that remark! There are so many favorite moments of mine that it would take me forever to list them all. I'm sure if I took some time to think about it i could dig up some risque moments too.

Too many fantastic moments to share, but I recently got Season 4 on DVD. I was watching the episode where it’s Ethel’s birthday – I about died laughing when Ethel found her gift in the closet, and then opened it to reveal those ugly checkerboard pants that Lucy picked out!!!! LMAO!

I liked the Ethel's Birthday episode. She called me hippopotomus. I did not although she does have the biggest potamus. Happy birthday Mrs Mertz I hope you live another 75 years.
When I watch the end I cry a little.

My first I Love lucy post......and I have a really good joke for you.
In the second-season episode Ricky and Fred Are TV Fans, Fred runs out to the store in between rounds of a fight on tv. Lucy and Ethel are in the kitchen. I dont remember this word for word but:

Lucy: There's no way Fred will get back in 1 minute
Ethel: Fred has himself trained to do ANYTHING in less than a minute

In the fifth-season episode The Passports, Lucy and Ethel are in the living room and Fred comes in with his old (and very tight) WWI uniform singing "Mad'moiselle from Armentieres"
I don't remember word for word what was said, but it was something like this:

Fred: I can't wait to storm Gay Paree once again
Lucy: Well, that's the perfect outfit to do it.

I always crack up on that one. The look on Ethel's face is priceless. I know they tried to make it seem like an innocent remark but it's not. You can tell. Ha-ha the 1950's may have tried to hide some things but we can still tell what went on.

Ok for my best moment, it would have to be any Lucy/Ethel moment. I don't mean "scheme" wise, I mean whenever they showed their appreciation for eachother. Like in "Ethel's Birthday", the two had a fight and in the end made up and sat together and held hands or in the Lucy-Desi hour when the Ricardo's are going away for two months and Ethel starts to cry because she's going to miss them. Lucy places her hand under Ethel's chin and says "Oh don't cry baby doll." and then she hugs her. It was so sweet. We all know Lucy pulled Ethel into alot of crap over the years but Ethel went along because that's what friends are for. To me, they are the real meanings of BFF

One thing that always cracked me up was when Desi Arnaz went into his Spanish-speaking rages. I heard that the Spanish words were mostly curses and other raunchy terms, but he got away with it because none of the sponsors or censors could understand him! There is only one other person I know of who would dissolve into Spanish rants at the drop of a hat on a sitcom - Gregory Sierra on Barney Miller.

Did anyone ever see the Lucy/Desi flick Forever Darling? I love how they went to see a movie. Desi fell asleep, and Lucy screamed. The confused/sleepy look on Desi's face was priceless.

The audience response was pretty hearty on that one. They understood what Ethel probably meant!

I don't know abt anyone else, but I always assumed that Ethel saying that Fred can do anything in a minute applied to him being able to "pee" or go to the bathroom in less than a minute...so he wouldn't miss any of the fights he saw on t.v. Did anyone else think that?
