I've heard that term before, but I don't know what it means. If you could provide a simple definition, I might be able to help you.

the term "breaking the 4th wall" is when a character looks directly at the audience and makes a comment. or when a character makes a little joke reffering to the fact that he or she is on a tv show.

I remember several instances where Will would talk to the audience.

But one episode comes to mind, when the family is on vacation in Philidelphia...

Carlton: Who's Omar?
Will: He's the dude who spins me over his head in the opening credits.

Last night's ep had Will talking to Hilary at the end of the show about what a pyshic (sp?) said - that he would become a rap artist and get his own show. Then he turns to the camera and ponders aloud, "I wonder what I'll call my show?"

I forgot what episode, but Will is sitting on the living room coach and someone made a comment about them being rich. Will looks at the audience & says, if we're so rich, why don't we have a ceiling. The camera zooms on the empty ceiling where it's just lights.

i remembered all of those, i like the one where he goes "The dude spinning me over his head in the opening credits" and heres a few i remember

Well this one isnt one where he looks at the audience but it was similar
Carlton goes to Will and Jazz: Yeah like you 2 have an ounce of musical ability put together.

1 where will looks at the audience
Jazz buys a present for baby nicky and goes to Mrs. Banks
Jazz: You know Mrs Banks ever since you had that baby there something diffrent about you
^(Refering to the change of the mothers actress)

I remember there was yet another instance of breaking the fourth wall in the episode where Will went out with a girl that dumped Carlton, and he tried to say, "Oh no, back in Philly we nicknamed our snacks." Then he turns to the audience and says, "I can't see him, you can, is he buying it?"
