Smile A Mistake in One of the Episodes

I can't believe I'm admitting this because it means I watch way too much of this show, but in one episode Blanche says her husband died while she was getting a pedicure and in another episode she says he died while she tripped over something and couldn't get to him. Thought I'd point out an oops on the show!

Hey, this isn't the only oops you'll find if you watch long enough. TGG was never all that concerned with continuity. One episode Rose was Valedictorian, one episode she didn't even graduate from high school. One episode she admitted to having her nose worked on, another she said she didn't believe in plastic surgery. Dorothy went to her Prom, she didn't go, she went in her Tennis outfit. Their children and their children's ages fluctuate every time they are mentioned. And the list goes on...

Don't get me wrong, I love TGG, it is my favorite sitcom of all time, but it never really worried about Continuity in any way.

Between seasons 1 and 2 I found one. Episode 26: End of The Curse when Dorothy says she never had a minc coat, but wasn't that one of the items stolen in Episode 8: Break In?

I don't recall her saying she trupoped and couldn't get to George. But, yah, continuity wasn't of the priority. You'll find that in a lot of classic shows, though (including I Love Lucy).

The biggest "oops" to me is when Rose first tells Dorothy and Blanche that she was adopted and says "Gunther and Olga Neiland" are my adoptive parents. Neiland was Charlie's last name and she took it when she married him... The Lindstroms adopted Rose.

Another thing I noticed was the actors that played their kids.

Two different actresses played Rose's daughter, Kirsten.
She was played by a blond haired actress in the first season and then in the episode where Rose has a bypass she is played by a brown haired actress. The amount of children that Kirsten had were different, too. In the first season, Kirsten had Charley, but in the bypass episode she had several girls.

Blanche's daughter Rebecca was played by two different actresses. She was played by a heavy blond haired woman in the earlier seasons then she was played by a dark haired actress. She was the one who got pregnant and had Aurora. She played Rebecca after that and the first one didn't play her anymore.
Also, Blanche's daughter, Janet's children changed through the years as well. In the first season, Blanche's daughter Janet had David who came to stay with Blanche and the girls, he was 14. In the Rose bypass episode Janet had Sarah a little blond haired girl, in another episode Janet had Melissa played by Alisan Porter from Curly Sue.

Now, Dorothy's son Michael got married and had a child but after that episode we never hear about the child ever again even after his wife kicks him out. Michael was played by the same actor everytime though.

Oh yeah, Sophia's son Phil supposedly had eight kids or whatever but when he dies we don't see any of the kids at his funeral only his wife, Angela. They are only mentioned one other time and that was the funeral episode. Also, when Sophia goes to her grandson's graduation she mentions that Angela is a welder but in the episode when Phil dies Angela is a cosmetologist or makeup artist. We never actually see Phil on camera either.

The actress that played Dorothy's sister Gloria changed as well. She was played by a red haired actress in the first season but in the episodes about the hurricane and Sophia setting up Stan and Gloria she is played by a tall gray haired actress. We never see any of her kids either. They are only mentioned once, in the first season episode "Custody Battle".

Dorothy's daughter Kate is played by two different actresses. She is played by the short red head in the 2nd episode when Kate marries Dennis. When Kate appears again she is played by a taller red headed actress and this time she and Dennis are having marital problems.

We never see any of Blanche's or Rose's sons only their daughters. Dorothy is the only one of them whom we see both her son and her daughter. We only see Sophia's daughters.
I guess they thought we wouldn't notice if Rebecca, Kirsten, Kate, and Gloria were played by different actress the second time around. Or that we wouldn't notice that the grandkids changed as well. Oh, well. It was and is still a great show.
I know, I have seen this show WAY too much. LOL.

There were so many continuity errors in the Golden Girls, yet is still remained very enjoyable. I don't know if this one was brought up but in "The End of the Curse" Rose fainted when she thought Blanche was pregnant but then in a later episode when Sophia was getting married to Max and Dorothy fainted, Rose said that she never fainted before.

No, Scott Jacoby played Michael Zbornak in all three episodes in which the character appeared.

Blanche's sister Virginia was played by the same actress in the 1st season and a few years later when Big Daddy dies. Big Daddy, by the way, was played by 2 different actors in 2 different episodes.

Probably the only family members that were played the same actors/actresses in at least 2 episodes were Sophia's sister and brother Angela and Angelo and Dorothy's son Michael (and of course Virginia.)

Anoter inconsistency I noticed was in the ep. where Sophia meets Alvin on the boardwalk by the beach. She tells him her late husband didn't like the beach, yet in another episode, we find out he and a friend ran a pizza-knish stand by the beach in New York!
