If this is true, then good luck to her. Though, in my opinion, she's going to be one of those actresses who will always be known as one character. I think most people will always continue to think of her as Debra.

Yeah,That's actually what I was thinking, that's happened to alot of well
known actesses in the past.
e.g.Phylicia Rashad (Claire Huxtable.) Nancy McKeon ( Jo Polniaczek.)
and now this.People will say Patricia Heaton ( Debra Barone.)

ABC/Touchstone antes up for thesp

"Everybody Loves Raymond" star Patricia Heaton has wasted no time finding a new TV family, inking a seven-figure talent and production deal with ABC/Touchstone.

Pact, which runs for a little more than a year, sets up Heaton and her Four Boy Films banner on the Disney lot, where the two-time Emmy winner will develop and exec produce telepics and skeins with her production partner and husband, David Hunt.

ABC and Touchstone also will develop a comedy or drama project in which Heaton will star and co-exec produce. It's considered unlikely Heaton would return to a series role before January.

Heaton's deal was quietly brokered last year but only confirmed Monday -- hours after the final episode of "Raymond" wrapped filming.

Steve McPherson, prexy of ABC Entertainment, said the net and studio pounced as soon as "we found out she was looking to find a new home."

"We're looking for strong female voices, and she possesses a great range of talents," he told Daily Variety. "She's strong, she's sexy, and she's funny."

Touchstone prexy Mark Pedowitz said the studio was looking forward to collaborating with Heaton, whom he praised for her "considerable talents."

McPherson said there will be "no pressure" in finding the right project in which Heaton might star. He also left open the possibility that the net would entertain projects from other studios if they made sense for Heaton.

"It's really about doing the right thing. We're not on a schedule," he said.

Another soon-to-be "Raymond" alum, Brad Garrett, is developing a comedy for HBO. CBS execs haven't ruled out the possibility of a "Raymond" spinoff starring Garrett, however.

Four Boys is developing biopic "Wilberforce" with Philip Anschutz's Walden Media. Shingle recently wrapped production on docu feature "The Bituminous Coal Queens of Pennsylvania," which Hunt helmed.

Heaton, who is in the middle of a lucrative spokesperson deal with the Albertson's supermarket chain, is up for three SAG Awards this year, two for "Raymond" (for comedy series female actor and ensemble) and one for her work in TNT's remake of "The Goodbye Girl."

taping of the final episode of CBS' hit comedy "Everybody Loves Raymond" over the weekend, the show's Emmy-winning star Patricia Heaton is making the move to ABC, inking a development deal with the alphabet network and its sister studio Touchstone TV.

Under the seven-figure pact, which will run more than a year, Heaton would star in series and longform projects for the studio and the network, on which she will serve as co-executive producer.

Through Four Boys Films, her production company with husband David Hunt, she also will develop and executive produce TV movies and series.

"Patricia is a true television star, and we're thrilled to be in business with her," ABC Primetime Entertainment president Stephen McPherson said. "While we look forward to finding the right project for her considerable acting skills, we are equally as excited to see what comes out of the development part of the deal."

The pact marks Heaton's return to ABC where she got her first TV starring role on the 1992 comedy "Room for Two."

Heaton has won two Emmys for her role as the feisty Debra Barone on "Raymond."

She is up for three trophies at this week's SAG Awards -- for best actress in a comedy series, best comedy series ensemble (along with her "Raymond" castmates) and best actress in a TV movie or miniseries for TNT's "The Goodbye Girl."

"Audiences and critics continue to show their appreciation for Patricia's considerable talents, and we look forward to collaborating on her next great project," Touchstone TV president Mark Pedowitz said.

Three-year-old Four Boys Films recently completed production on the documentary feature "The Bituminous Coal Queens of Pennsylvania," which Hunt directed.

The company is developing with Philip Anschutz's Walden Media "Wilberforce," a film about William Wilberforce, an 18th century British abolitionist.

Heaton is repped by UTA and attorney Bill Skrzyniarz.

I hope she gets another show and it succeeds. I would love to see Debra-- I mean, Patricia, in another show.

The only problem is that statistically, the odds against her succeeding are considerable. Usually, when you come off a long and successful show, people tend to stereotype you and the Seinfeld gang is proof of that. Their initial attempts to have their own shows after it went off the air met with failure, sadly.

I wish her well and hope we see her soon - I just hope she doesn't play a Debra clone.

Yea, an example is Nancy McKeon, she starred in the 1980's sitcom
''The Facts Of Life.'' which ran for nine years on NBC.

She then starred in her own sitcom ''Can't Hurry Love.'' on CBS.
The show first aired in September 1995,but was cancelled in 1996.

In 2001 she starred in '' The Division.'' police drama on Lifetime.
The show was cancelled in 2004.
Many people still typecast Nancy as Jo,her Facts of Life Character.

I hope when Patricia has her own show, that people won't
typecast her as ''Debra Barone.''

I wonder if this is why she didn't participate in The Facts Of Life reunion movie. Everyone else was there. Maybe she wanted to shed "Jo". Let's face it, once you do a certain role, you're typecast.

Adam West was typecast as Batman, but he put it to his advantage and embraced it. He's made quite a bit of money off that as a result.
