In one JEFFERSONS they show George and Lionel on a bridge painting their names on the bridge (or about to). It isn't the nicest thing to do. But, it did make into a funny situation!

well, it's true that painting on a bridge is not a nice thing to do, in fact it's vandalism and against the law, but by the same token, people are not forced to do everything they see on TV. hopefully most people learn their values from their parents, their teachers, their religion, etc, and not from watching george and lionel.

This episode from the show's 6th season is the only one I can remember where George and Lionel have a touching heart to heart moment. I had honestly never thought of them as vandals.
