Default White go-go boots

Did anybody think Lucy was too old to be wearing those white go-go boots she wore on the show sometimes? They just didn't look right on a woman her age with those short skirts. She had brown boots too sometimes.

Funny you would notice that. It always used to strike me as a bit odd too. Back then, I was a pre-teen and teen and I had a couple of pairs (both short and long) and always thought she was a little old for them at the time.

Although, Lucy always had the legs that she could pull them off. She always had beautiful legs.

I think its a little more acceptable these days for middle-aged women to wear "hipper" styles than it was back then. Maybe they wanted to make her more hip to attract younger audiences.

I think she wore those boots too on The Lucy Show. Although I like Lucy, those boot outfits always made me laugh. Her hair towards the end of Here's Lucy looked a little unusual. Maybe it is just me.

Maybe she was trying to attract a new generation of younger viewers. You know she never really liked the rock music, hippies. etc. She poked fun at them on several episodes. It was like she was wanting the youth of the 60's and 70's to like the Big Band era again or something.

Yeah I agree - that's all I can think of. I never really liked those shows actually. You rarely see them in syndication - I've never even seen them on TVLand or Nick!

I loved those boots on Lucy. She wore them in Here's Lucy because after she broke her leg in the ski accident, the boot gave her more support in the calf and helped to strengthen her leg.

I didn't think about that. I thought they were trying to make a fashion statement.

That makes sense! Like I said, she did have the legs to pull them off.

Now if Ethel had worn them......

As someone else noted, she wore those boots to help strengthen the leg she broke in the 1972 skiing accident. But I would have to disagree that she was too old to wear them. I loved it when she wore those boots with skirts. I think they made her look stylish and spunky. I get weary of seeing her in dresses and high heels all the time, which I think make her look too old!

I've got pictures of my aunt wearing glasses like that! They were all the rage and looked SO BAD!!! It's hilarious looking back at some of the styles back then that we thought were so cool! I know it happens every decade, but the 60s and 70s in particular had some strange stuff boy!

Talk about strange stuff, I'm sure kids today 20 years down the road are going to be hiding pictures of them showing their pants hanging down below their hips, fully exposing their underwear. How something so stupid looking as that has caught on is beyond me.
