Default Getting Ready for the DVD Release!

When I first bring home the DVD (I'm taking a vacation that week, so I'll have all the time I want to watch it) I intend to first watch the featurette. It'll be twelve minutes. Then I'll watch the gag reel. Now I haven't watched the first two seasons for at least a year, maybe longer. So I intend to watch the pilot by itself first. And then rewatch it with the commentary. After that, I'll probably just watch all the commentary episodes. And with the total being 29 episodes, it looks like "Injury" WILL be included!

I'll be stopping at Best Buy on Tuesday! I have to work out of town, starting on the following week, for two weeks. All in the same place. My laptop has a DVD player! Stands to reason, I'll have plenty of time to watch the whole thing, maybe a couple of times...

Hope it causes the message board to pick up a little. It's been pretty slow.

My best,
Dirt

NewsRadio is the "Pick of the Week" over at TVShowsondvd.com!

It should pick up with the release of the DVDs. I know I'll be here more talking about my opinions on the commentaries and stuff.

The NewsRadio DVD set got an "A" in Entertainment Weekly. There was a little article about it in the magazine.

I was at F.Y.E. yesterday, and I got an early copy of "M*A*S*H" Season 8. I peeked behind the counter where I saw "Chapelle's Show" Season 2 and "Fat Actress" Season 1. But I didn't see "NewsRadio" anywhere. I'm starting to worry I'm gonna have trouble finding it. However, in the Best Buy add, I see NewsRadio listed there for $29.99. So I'll go there tomorrow.

I can't believe it's actually happening. This time tomorrow, I'll be watching "NewsRadio" on DVD!

I got it. There's one thing I noticed. It really wasn't an edit. Although it was. "Injury" is on the DVD as it originally aired. However, when NBC originally aired it, they had cut out a couple lines. Once, I saw it with the lines included, Bill says the word of the male part. I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to say it, here. So my local syndicate showed it with the word there. However, A&E didn't show it. I had heard that they watered the episode down when they originally aired it. I guess that was it.

Other than that, the episodes are complete and great.

I noticed a couple added lines, too. They had to cut scenes down by like two minutes per episode for syndication. I liked the additonal line when Jimmy is testing the headset phone. Hysterical!

I watched the episode then re-watched it with the commentary. I think it would have been cool if they had the cast together and had an interview session. Seeing them together again would have been a trip. The commentary is a little disjointed, but never the less, fun to listen to.

Time to re-watch it! (Under my breath: is there any talk about the next release?)

Now I'm changing this thread to "Getting Ready for the DVD Release". That way, we can always go to this thread for the future releases.

February 28th, 2006 is the next release.

NewsRadio (Seasons 1 & 2) - May 24th, 2005
NewsRadio (Season 3) - February 28th, 2006
NewsRadio (Season 4) - Hopefully before the 2006 year is up
NewsRadio (Season 5) - I'd say early 2007 (only is season 4 is out in 2006)

I can't wait for season 3! I'm planning another vacation around NewsRadio.

As Stewie Griffin might phrase it, "How the deuce did you get a copy of season 3 THIS EARLY!?!"

I brought back this old thread. This is from the seasons 1 & 2 DVD. I've just retitled the thread. I just wanted to start talking about the antipation for the upcoming DVD. I will, however, get it like a week early because I'll be reviewing it.

I hear there's no Joe and Khandi commentaries this time around. The Joe-Andy commentary was my favorite. I'm not whining though. They were all great. I'm just going to miss Joe in this set.

Yeah, Season Four is my favorite season. Season Three, I seem to take for granted. It's there, and I like it. But for some reason I don't LOVE it. When I think of the best episodes, I always think season 1, 2 and 4. And then I'll watch an episode from season 3 and it will be hilarious. I guess it's just me. I tend to like either the early years or the later years of a show. And season three is right in the middle. It's still better than season five, though. And I can't wait to get season five. I hope they talk about how they came to the decision to kill Bill off with a heart attack.
