Default Question about the episode-"THE BIG SALAD" on NBC

Just wondering on NBC, do viewers find out the real reason why Newman stopped seeing the woman Jerry was dating? Jerry was desperately trying to find out why someone like Newman would reject a woma like that. So does anyone know if that question is answered on the Full Length Episode?

BTW:I knew exactly what year this episode was aired in when I saw the O.J Simpson Car Chase in the Tag Scene-lOL

I haven't seen the full-length episode yet, but I got the script from the gift set off of EBay, and it was for "The Big Salad". All the script says is that Newman broke up w/ her because she wasn't his type. This of course leads to Jerry's eventual breakup w/ her, because he can't stand to kiss anyone who's kissed Newman and doesn't want to be 2nd to anyone whom Newman rejected.

The script also gives a tentative shooting schedule of August 18-23, 1994, w/ a lot of the time on the 22nd & 23rd designated for "Block & Shoot", which likely means that a lot of this episode, as well as episodes throughout the series, had to be filmed w/o the studio audience. I've attended 3 live audience filmings of sitcoms, and 2 of them had scenes that were pre-filmed and shown to the audience on the monitors in order to record the audience laughter so that the shows didn't have to resort to canned laughter.

In that episode, Jerry also asked Newman "Don't you think she's attractive?" and Newman says "No..I need a REAL pretty face".

So apparently, she wasn't attractive enough for Newman. Newman did reveal to Jerry his attraction to Elaine in that scene however... so we know he does (at least sometimes) have very good taste...

But the woman Jerry dated was, as Kramer put it, "a natural beauty". She was very attractive.

Yes that was the reason that was given, but whether it was the truth or not we don't know. She also told Jerry it was Newman that broke it off.

To really answer your question Solomon, the NBC version doesn't reveal anything that the syndicated version does not.

To Jerry - it was bad enough that Newman had dated this woman, but how horrible must she be if NEWMAN was the one who dumped HER!?? I love how she literally shoves Jerry out of her car onto the curb.

Lol

That scene with Jerry and Margaret was hysterical!

Margaret: Hello.

Jerry: You two know each other?

Newman: You might say that.

Margaret: We used to go out.

Newman: Well, tootle loo. And nice seeing you again Margaret, goodbye Jerry. Have fun. He he

Jerry: . . . YOU went out with . . . Newman?

Margaret: Just a few times.

Jerry: Why?

Margaret: I liked him.

Jerry: You liked, Newman?

Margaret: Look I'm a little uncomfortable talking about this okay?

Jerry: No, I'm sorry. I'm just a little curious. I mean why did you stop seeing him.

Margaret: He ended it.

Jerry: . . . HE ended it?

Margaret: YES!! Yes! It was a couple of years ago. Why does it matter?

Jerry: No, no of course not.

And the one between Newman and Jerry...

Jerry: Come on Newman. OPEN THE DOOR!

Newman: Hellooo Jerry. What a rare treat. What brings you down to the east wing?

Jerry: Okay, pudgy, lets stop playing games. What happened with Margaret?

Newman: There's no need to get excited. Can't we discuss this like gentlemen?

Jerry: No, we can't. My skin is crawling just being inside your little rat's nest. Now, what happened?

Newman: Do you really want to know what happened? I'll tell you what Happened. She wasn't my type.

Jerry: Not your type?

Newman: Not really.

Jerry: Well, how come?

Newman: Ah, she just didn't do it for me.

Jerry: What, what is wrong with her?

Newman: Well, h ha ha- if you're happy with her, that's all that matters.

Jerry: You don't think she's attractive?

Newman: No. I need a really pretty face. But, Hey, that's me.

Jerry: Okay, Newman, thanks a lot.

Newman: Care for some lemonade?

Jerry: No, thank you.

Newman: Drop bye anytime, Jerry. Ha, ha ha
