The second anniversary of Robert Stack's death - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I hate to admit it, but today (May 14) marks the second anniversary of the death of Robert Stack. As you know, he died of heart failure on May 14, 2003, at the age of 84.

I first learned about his death via the internet. When I read the headline that said that he was dead, it was as though I had been punched in the stomach. Robert Stack's death was a painful loss.

Sadly, there aren't too many actors who share his qualities. He was, of course, known for playing law enforcement characters (such as Eliot Ness), and he was admittedly pro-law enforcement. That's how he fit into the job as the host of an anti-crime show. This made him a stark contrast to countless celebrities who show little or no support for law enforcement agencies, and tend to bash the agencies, as well as the efforts to bring down criminals and terrorists (regardless of the characters they portray). This is the main reason why I miss Robert Stack in the worst way. It's also probably why many people consider him irreplaceable.

Rest in peace, Mr. Stack.

...it's a pretty creepy coincidence that the host of my favorite show passed away on my birthday. At least the date of his death will always be embedded in my mind so I can take a little time out of my day to say a little prayer to this wonderful actor who truly is missed...

When I first heard that he passed away I was saddened. I actually read about it in the newspaper, made me upset for the rest of the day mostly because Robert was truly a wonderful actor and always pleasant to watch. I was always a fan and he will truly be missed.

I miss him too. Even though the newer episodes weren't as good as the old ones, Robert Stack was always the same and absolutely perfect in his work. *sniff* *sniff*
