This chart came out for the day after my eleventh birthday! I went out to eat with my dad and my sister for my birthday, and I also remember going to a car dealership that weekend becasue Dad wanted to look at the new '77 Chevrolet sedans to see if he should trade up to a four-door (he chose to stay with what he already had). So what would have been on the car radio that weekend?

35.Stand Tall-Burton Cummings(Debut) - Burton Cummings of the Guess Who was always an annoying singer, and his solo work was even more annoying.

34.You Make Me Feel Like Dancing-Leo Sayer(Debut) - This record eventually made it to number one! Leo Sayer did the best Michael Jackson impersonation I've ever heard!

33.Lowdown-Boz Scaggs - a great soul-rock record to move your feet to!

31.You Don't Have To Be A Star(To Be In My Show)-Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. - A double serving of cheese from two Fifth Dimension alums. :P

29.This One's For You-Barry Manilow - You shouldn't have, Barry. Really.

25.That'll Be The Day-Linda Ronstadt - Not her worst cover, but stick with the Buddy Holly original.

24.Nights Are Forever Without You-England Dan & John Ford Coley It feels like forever listening to this song!

23.(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty-KC & The Sunshine Band - KC was totally wrong, but he was a dancin' fool!

22.I Only Want To Be With You-Bay City Rollers - No one does this to Dusty Springfield and gets away with it!

21.The Best Disco In Town-Richie Family - The worst medley on the charts!

20.Play That Funky Music-Wild Cherry White boys who couldn't recognize funk if you spotted them the "F", the "N", and the "K" and then let them buy a vowel!

19.A Fifth Of Beethoven-Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band - The good news? There was no dance version of "Ode To Joy."

18.You Are The Woman-Firefall - Why country-rock had to give up the ghost.

17.More Than A Feeling-Boston - The best kind of corporate rock - coldly calculated, yes, but you still knew it was Boston and no one else!

16.Fernando-Abba - Swedish flamenco?!?

15.The Rubberband Man-Spinners - Oh, get down, brother!

14.Nadia's Theme(The Young And The Restless)-Barry DeVorzon & Perry Botkin Jr. If that little Romanian twerp had blown it at the Montreal Olympics, and not won a gold medal, we wouldn't have had to listen to her awful choice of background music on the radio.

13.Beth-Kiss - Peter Criss is Barry Manilow! No wonder he was forced out of the group.

12.(Don't Fear) The Reaper-Blue Oyster Cult A rather grotesque ode to suicide. The Shakespeare references don't give it any class.

11.Do You Feel(Like We Do)-Peter Frampton - Okay, Pete, we get it, you can do clever things with a voice box guitar, but quite frankly, dude, who the bloody hell cares?

9.Magic Man-Heart - Decent AOR fare.

8.Tonight's The Night-Rod Stewart - Love that guitar, but was the moaning in French really necessary? I mean, we get the gist of it.

7.She's Gone-Daryl Hall & John Oates. This song actually came out in 1973, and was a hit three years later. Good things come to those who wait.

6.Muskrat Love-Captain & Tennile. This song was also done originally in 1973 - by America. Boh versions suck - I mean, what do I care if two rodents wanna get it on? Just better not do it in my house!

5.Love So Right-Bee Gees - A decent ballad, and a hint of the explosive music they would offer up a year hence.

4.If You Leave Me Now-Chicago - Wait a second - weren't these guys supposed to be a jazz-rock band? Look up "boring" in the dictionary, and you'll find a picture of the sheet music to this song next to it.

3.Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald-Gordon Lightfoot - This is a great nautical song, a heartfelt and heart-rending account of the Lake Superior disaster that took 29 lives. A miracle that a salior's tune got on the charts in 1976.

2.Disco Duck Part 1-Rick Dees & His Cast Of Idiots - Never was a group more appropriately named. This record was what gave disco its bad reputation.

1.Rock'n Me-Steve Miller Band - A ripoff of Free's "All Right Now," but it's a pretty good ripoff, and Miller remains a fine rocker in my book.

I don't really get out a lot. When I do go out, I couldn't be happier. I love being in a nice milieu. I'm as happy as a clam. Just as long as I'm not in some club playing hip-hop. You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents.
