Default Does anyone else have this problem?

Sleep. I have a big sleeping problem.
I never get sleepy until after 10 or 11 PM, and then I'm tired the next day and sometime even take naps.

Today I was really sick from my allergies so I got picked up from school, and I guess this allergy medicine really made me sleepy and I did sleep for a long time! About 4 hours, I'm guessing! So it's 1:40 AM right now and I'm not one bit tired and I have to start getting ready for school in 4 hours. My bus comes really early--6:45!!

I've been suffering from insomnia for about seven years now. I often have difficulty falling asleep at night and even if I do fall asleep I often don't sleep through the night. And it doesn't even matter how sleepy I am. I can be really tired and still not be able to fall asleep.

Here lately I've been having that problem. I don't go to sleep til 1am and then it takes forever for me to get comfortable and fall asleep and that's with me tired too! Up until recently, I rarely had that problem.

Some nights I can get to sleep easily, other nights I spend hours trying.

i hate my natural sleep schedule. i can't fall asleep until 1 or 2 am and have to get up at like 7 on weekdays, sometimes i sleep in class, and then i go back to sleep at like 4 pm until around 6. i REALLY wish i could fall asleep early, get a full night's rest and wake up around dawn because it's really pretty outside then, and if i sleep too late (which i always do on weekends) i feel like i've wasted the day. well part of the problem is that all the good tv shows come on between like 11 and 12 at night and i don't believe in recording shows for that purpose.

You're looking at the queen of Insomnia right here.

Good grief. I got 4 hours of sleep last night, and last night was a good night.

For the LONGEST time, I'd go to bed after final class of the day (around 3 to 5 PM), and wake up at around Midnight - it's just easier for me to get things done in that 12 AM to 8 AM frame when everyone else is asleep/too sleepy/too drunk. With school out, I'm about as close to normal sleep as I get: Asleep between 7 to 9 PM, Awake 4-6 AM.

I'm the same way. For some reason, I HATE doing chores and homework in the daytime...I can't explain it. But at about 10pm, I will feel like doing it. Vacuuming, washing the dishes, taking out the garbage, doing the laundry, homework, etc...I hate doing them in the daytime but LOVE doing chores at night. It calms me down. Last night, I went on a cleaning rampage...Organized the living room and kitchen like mad & organized my bedroom BIG TIME, among other things. I felt so relaxed afterwards.

I also cannot fall asleep after midnight, no matter how hard I try. I can be in bed by 11 at the earliest, but I have to be REALLY tired for that to occur. It doesn't matter if I have to be up at 5 or 6am...I cannot fall asleep after midnight. I don't have insomnia or anything...I've just always been that way.

There are times when I can't fall asleep either. Maybe taking a sleeping pill might help. Also, take something that contains treptafan (sp?). Foods that usually have it is warm milk (yes, by warming up your milk) and turkey. They'd make you feel sleepier.

FYI: Surprisingly, the lull of the day where people are prone to get tired easily is between 2:00 - 3:00 a.m. AND p.m. That's when our bodies usually get the most tired.

The older that I get the more trouble I have sleeping.
My solution?I take 2 Benedryl capsules every night. My doctor told me that there is no problem with that. Perfectly safe. And it works! But Benedryl can be expensive so I buy the generic brands at the dollar store or the in-store brands that are the equivalents. They are much much cheaper and work exactly the same. My husband can't take them because they make him very dragged out and listless the next day. But I have no problem with that. Depends on one's chemistry I guess.

Another word of advice. No caffeine! I cannot drink coffee or caffeinated soft drinks after 5 P.M. or I am doomed!

I used to be exactly like that. I cut out the nap in the afternoon (4 - 6) and yes, it was a struggle staying away to even 8 p.m. that night, but you go to bed and you will sleep right through. Keep doing it for a few days and it will usually reset your sleep cycle. You'll still get the odd day where you can't fall asleep, but it's much better. Naps are absolute killers for getting to bed at a proper bedtime.
