Sad PAX should say goodbye

For those of you fans who usually watched "The Hogan Family" (aka "Valerie") since it was reran on PAX back from the beginning like 1998 or 1999. Guest what! PAX is leaving at the end of either this month or next month to go infomercials. This is what happened in Mediaweek:

NBCU Opposes Pax Sales Plans

NBC Universal today said that it will oppose Paxson Communications Corp.'s attempt to terminate PaxTV network's national and local sales agreements with NBC Universal, as well as the joint sales agreements between Paxson and NBC affiliated stations.

In a statement, NBC Universal also said Paxson's plan to abandon network programming and to replace it primarily with infomercials, direct response advertising and other paid programming, "constitutes a breach of the contractual agreements between NBC Universal and Paxson."

NBC owns about one-third of PaxTV, and has overseen ads sales on the network for the past few years, and has also provided some programming, through NBC Studios.

"NBC Universal will not agree to this course of action in the absence of a viable new business plan that preserves and maximizes the value of Paxson's assets," the statement said. "We believe that the adoption of a paid-programming model will jeopardize Paxson's long-term financial prospects in light of its highly leveraged balance sheet, and is not in the best interests of Paxson stakeholders."

Paxson officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

I remember "The Hogan Family" since it was on WPIX (channel 11) back in around 1989 or 1990. But I don't remember the episode where Jodie Sweetin made her guest appearence on the show before she played as Stephanie Tanner on "Full House". I missed that episode. I hope PAX is saying goodbye at the end of this month or next month.

Valerie/The Hogan Family has not been on TV for 6 years now. The last time it aired on PAX TV was December 1999. I really think its time to bring this show back on TV again. I think it should be on Nick@Nite or TV Land. I also think its time for this show to be released on DVD in season sets! I think Warner Bros. owns the rights to the show. Someone should create an petition site so that people can sign it. Hopefully if enough people sign the petition, we can get this great show on to DVD in season sets!

Petitions really don't do any good because they can be spammed too easily and there is no way of knowing if the signatures are authentic. I suggest going to www.tvshowsondvd.com and register so you can vote (it really isn't voting, more like polling and they show the companies that people are interested in particular shows) on all the shows you'd like to have on DVD. The people at that site do a great job.
