Default Good Times/Maude Spinoff Debate-Part 2

I watching an episode of Maude the other day and Florida said

"i want to continue to work for Maude for two more years and then i can quit because the children will be old enough to be on their own"

Which means that Florida didn;t have a young kid, only older teeenagers, so that also means that........................................................

Feel free to talk with me, I'm ready-lol

Here we go again that doesn't make Good Times not a spinoff. James would still be working and the two older kids would work so Florida could quit because they'd have two less kids to worry about.

I will check again but i'm sure she said out of the house. meaning they would be on their own.

Often details in spin-offs dont jive with the earlier show, such as Frasier Crane being an only child with a dead scientist as a father on Cheers ....then suddenly gaining a brother and a cop for a Dad on "Frasier"..... Would you then say Frasier wasnt a spin-off of Cheers???( It can't be by your logic * )
* And if it wasnt, then what were Sam, Woody, Dianne and Lilith doing on the show?

Good Times was already in Production before Esther Rolle Left Maude, which means well you know the rest.

SOLOMON, my goodness. This is a weak statement. It does not stand up. Besides, one Maude episode, Florida said she had "three beautiful, black kids". I have the episode on tape to back it up. However, you do bring conflict, controversy and life to the lives of the other members on the board. LOL.

"We have three, beautiful black kids". I am majoring in production at school. Writers and prodcers have the rights to make any creative changes they please. Many other shows have done it. Did you read Mikado's statement? The poster makes great points. The fact that her children are almost grown does not make for good foundation in your argument at all. Besides, she was right. Thelma and J.J.'s characters would have been 15 and 16 during the first season of Maude had they been introduced whether Michael was included in the equation or not. Shows make changes all the time. I can understand the creators not wanted to rely on the success of "Maude" in order for Good Times to be a success, but just because the idea was concieved before "Maude" does not mean it is not a spinoff. I have posted this many times before but "Knots Landing" was concieved before it's parent series "Dallas" but the idea was shelved and brought to light through "Dallas". Shows do that all the time. I major in Television and Film and from seeing it on TV, it is so obvious. Plus, are there any "Good Times" series episodes with Flo and James/Henry Evans circa 1972? I think not.
