Whith "Family Guy" back in the air alongside "American Dad!" I have to know which show is better.

American Dad is new, and I don't think the show has found it's voice yet. It's going to get better. That's not to say I don't like it, I still think it's funny, but it's got great potential.
Family Guy is the champ. For me, it's the best animated series on TV right now. |

I gotta tell ya though, Roger the space alien from "American Dad" cracks me up. He's the breakout character for that show.

You know who Roger reminds me of? Squidward, from Spongebob Squarepants. Their personality is at least reminiscent, given that they are both sarcastic curmudgeons. But the physical resemblance is the really strong one. They're both gray. They're similarly proportioned. And they both speak with a nasal voice. Looks like a ripoff to me. Don't get me wrong, I love the character Roger. And Stan and Haley.
BTW, I was the first to vote for American Dad over Family Guy! I liked Family Guy the first time around, but I just find myself more excited over American Dad than over the return of Family Guy. The new Family Guy is well worth watching, however.

Family Guy hands down!
As TJL says though, I think American Dad will find itself. And yeah, that alien thing gives me the creeps like Squidward on Spongebob. (Isn't Squidward purple though?) Either way, they're very "phallic-like" - and non-Jewish too!!
