Does anyone know how to play piano? I want to learn SO bad. Was it easy?? Does anyone know where I can get sheet music for free? THANKS BUNCHES!!

I taught myself as well. You need to know how to read notes written in the treble clef (right hand) and the bass clef (left hand) as the notes are different. Bass clef is a bitch to learn. Then you need to know how to read sheet music itself.

I'd suggest lessons... the only reason I was able to teach myself was because in the past, I've played the violin, clarinet, and I currently play the flute/piccolo, so I already knew all the notes/sheet music.

I took lessons for about 7 years when I was younger. It definitely takes time and practice to get good at it. Definitely take lessons.

I've looked around the internet for free sheet music, but it's real hard to find.

Good luck, playing the piano is a pretty cool talent.

I play the piano...its hard at first but you need to keep practicing and than you'll get really good.

I took piano lessons in second grade. I remember them being pretty hard, but that was probably do to my age.

I played the paino for a year, and learning the notes was pretty easy for me in the treble clef considering the fact that I play the violin, but the brass clef was harder since I wasn't used to reading it. I quit after a year because I had absolutely no time to practice, and piano takes a lot of practicing in order to get really good at it. I've heard that the piano is one of the most difficult instruments to play (as I've heard the same for violin) and I must agree. It probably wouldn't be so hard for me now if I would of stuck with it, because with only taking lessons for one year, I was just a beginner. If you're really serious about taking lessons, I suggest you go for it! It's really a nice talent to be able to play the paino. Maybe I should of stuck with it, and I could of possibly liked it. I looooooove the piano. My only problem is I dont have the patience to learn music and such. I know the notes, Im just not fast enough and dont have the skills. I took lessons for 3 years, but never practiced.

I used to take lessons for about 5 years. It's a lot of fun, but after the 5 years I just didn't feel like taking lessons anymore. I was more into singing after that, but now I want to start playing piano some more and also learn how to play the guitar.

I do. When I started in 3rd grade my teacher said I was the best student she ever had, and I guess I was really good...but the pressure my dad put on me for it made me hate it so I quit in 7th grade. I started again this year, I'm in 10th now. I need some catching up, but I'm okay.

I've been playing piano since I was 15 and I still enjoy it very much. I kinda taught myself the notes. Kinda. I started playing clarinet when I was 10 so I knew the notes on the treble clef. My mom bought a piano and I just figured out what notes were on what keys. Then I taught myself the bass clef, but my mom still wanted me to start taking lessons. Not to brag, but my teacher couldn't believe that I already knew all the notes and I knew how to read music, so she didn't have to start from the beginning.

As far as sheet music, I really don't know where you can get 'free' sheet music, but I go to the library. They usually have a bunch of music books, alot of it is recent music and I copy it. It's not copyright infringement because you are using it for your personal use. It's only copyright infringement if you are copying it to sell it.

same here, i learned how to play music when i took violin lessons several years ago. i can't say exactly when i started playing piano. when i was eight i got a keyboard (which i still use avidly) and i'd been learning the basics of sheet music since about age five, but i didn't quite know enough about it to where i was able to really use it. but i was still able to figure out a lot of stuff as far as just playing the keys. and before that, since i was an infant i had a toy piano with color-coded keys and notes on the sheet music it came with. so technically i've been playing my whole life.
