Smile The Mother's Day Thread

Tell us why your mother is so special, or if your mother has passed on, what made her so special. Also, tell us your plans on how you plan to honor your mother this year...gifts, dinner, cards, etc.

I lost my mother three years ago. My mother was my best friend, and was always there for me, in every way. She was a great listener. If I told her I had a headache, she would remember to ask me about it...same with doctor's appointments or anything else. She truly cared about me.

She was the first person I'd call if something good or something bad was happening in my life. She was warm, generous of spirit, loving and had a great sense of humor. Her love was unconditional.

I'll always love her, yet I really miss her loving me. She was one of my biggest fans, and I miss her every day of my life.

There's no love like a mother's love.

I'm sorry about your MOM , Janice..I still have mine and can't imagine my life without her .
My mom is a great source of support, a friend, always with advice (sometimes even unwanted), she can read my mind and is always thinking about me.Her grandaughters; she loves to death and she's very proud of them.
I've been a mom for 8yrs and have learned a great deal from her example; we encourage each other to become better moms every day.

My mom is so supportive of everything I do, she'd be behind me 100% on every thing I do. She always shows so much love, and theres nothing I can't tell her. She has a great sense of humour, and we always have great laughs. She's the funniest person I know. Her schemes and pranks are great, and her and my aunt remind me of Lucy and Ethel. They always get into trouble but some how find a way out. My house is always filled with love and laughter.

Happy mothers day, mom!

My mother is insane. Today she had decided to yell at me all day about how emotionally disturbed I am. So I'm obviously not to motivated to do anything nice for her tomorrow. She is still a very interesting person... she is very uptight yet very immature. It's a weird combination. She likes to yell at everyone about stupid crap all day, then she'll drink a couple glasses of wine and act like a kid for the rest of the night. She is still a pretty good mother I guess... she lets me do whatever I want and is usually cool to me. We do a lot together. She just loves to herself yell which is so tiring to hear all the time. Yeah.

That sounds EXACTLY like my mom, except minus the wine part because my mom doesn't drink. I think a lot of my mom's emotional issues come from a) our screwed up family and b) all of her medical stuff. She's had thyroid cancer, seizures that can't be explained, a hysterectomy, a heart attack, 5-bypass heart surgery...all in the last 5 years.

Hate to say it but sometimes my mom can be...how you say...I guess fickle. She's not insane, like some of you posted, but maybe close to it!! She has her moods. If you get her mad from something stupid, she won't talk to you for a while. She holds grudges, but she's certainly not as bad as when I was younger. Now I call her on it and I tell her I'm not going to put up with it. When I was in high school, she found out I was friends with this guy she didn't like and she didn't talk to me for 2 weeks. Now she lays her moods on my dad, and he's always telling me how she's not talking to him, and he doesn't know what he did this time!!! I tell him enjoy it while he can!!!

But my sister & I are still doing something for her, like we do every year. My mom loves the music to Les Miserables, and they've performed this whole week in Orlando, so we got tickets for it for tomorrow. Then we're planning on getting something to eat afterwards but we made no reservations anywhere, so we might end up at Denny's or Hooter's because I'm sure all the other restaurants will be packed!!

My Mother was my best friend. She was always there for me. She would listen to my problems and was always there when I came home from school and was really interested in how my day was. We would do all kinds of things together. I remember going to the beach and jumping the waves with her or the many camping trips we took. Our Bicycle rides. I loved her homeade Chilli and Potato Salad. She was a great cook. We would watch television together. Her favorite shows was The Waltons and Little House On The Praire. She was an avid Doll Collector and she loved her plants. We used to kid her about that. I lost her about 2 and a half years ago and I always think of her. Its particular tough around Christmas ( which was her favorite Holiday) and of course Mothers Day.

Here's to you Mom.

No matter how many times I say I hate my mother, I realize that I love her and she loves me unconditionally no matter what. She'll always be there for me. We've been through a lot in the past few years, her and I. My mental illnesses, my drug/alcohol problems, my dad's alcohol problems, my dad in general, my sister's attitude/lying problems, the list goes on. She's having a really hard time with her brothers and sisters these days, everyone is lying and mad at eachother. My dad is just... unbelievable. My mom feels worn out, alone, like everything is her fault. But I know that whenever my mom needs me, I will be there for her, because she was always there for me. I love you, Mom.

Unfortunately I don't have any money this year to buy my mom anything, and it's bugging me. I really need to get a job... so if anyone has any ideas that I could use to make something homemade or whatever, I'll gladly accept.

My mom is awesome. She does a lot for my sister and me and puts up with a lot from us and our dad. Tomorrow I'm gonna clean the whole house.
