I had a conversation with my friend from the show today and asked him for the latest. Basically nothing new. NBC is a no go for renewal but the show may be shopping around for a new home. It's speculative but lets keep our fingers crossed.
I also asked him if he has heard anything about season 2 and 3 on DVD. Apparently the season 1 DVD set was put out by the producer and not NBC. Since NBC has essentially cut the ties with the show, it's unlikely that we will see another DVD set anytime soon. Money gets money. And with no money coming in for the show, there's not much reason to spend money on the DVDs right now. As I said before, this is all speculative but it's from the inside. Take it for what you feel it's worth. |

I'm not sure I agree that the DVD's won't be coming out. It's not about NBC or even if the show is on the air. Most TV DVD sets are from shows that are no longer on the air. It's really about Jonathon Prince and Dick Clark, the home video deals they cut, and how the Season One set sold. The fan base is loyal, and releasing it sooner (while the fans are still thinking so much about the show) would be better than later. Let's hope so - I can't imagine all those episodes being gone forever.

I agree! I think it would be a perfect opportunity to tie up the loose ends and use that as a selling point. But we all know it's all about the money.
Just out of curiousity, does anyone know how many of the Season 1 sets sold? I never saw them in the stores anywhere so I don't know if they sold out or just never made it to the shelves. |

I bought mine in a store....at Best Buy...on the date it was released. But I haven't heard either, how well they sold.

In Jonathan Prince's interview for the fan club he seemed to suggest that the DVD for season 2 was in the pipeline. Perhaps cancellation of the show would delay the release date, but seeing as how many more obscure and long-cancelled shows out there are being fully released on DVD, I think it's unlikely that AD will be held back.

NBC also cut ties with "Freaks and Geeks," and yet they found someone to produce the DVD set, and it was fantastic.

Also, if the first season sold well, of course they would want to milk AD for all the money they could get.
