Default Most Memorable Moments

Okay MASHfans, let's hear it.

What are your favorite "M*A*S*H" moments?
What scene or joke or situation has always stood out in your mind as a perfect example of the uniqueness of the show?

Here's one for starters:

Her Father Was A Horse - One of my favorite Hawkeye jokes is from "Big Mac" (season 3). Margaret tells the group that her Father served under General MacArthur during WW1, and Hawkeye turnes to Trapper and says "Her Father was a horse, did you know that?" It's a brilliant little example of some of the rapid fire barbs from the early seasons when the show was more silly than serious.

Any others?

Great "M*A*S*H" moment #2

"I hate A Mystery" Henry Blake, while searching the Swamp for some stolen items, gets a mountain of soot dumped on his face, causing Hawkeye and Trapper to double over with laughter. Too damn funny.

The episodes "An Eye For A Tooth", "April Fools", and "The Winchester Tapes" had some memorable moments in them.

For instance, in "An Eye For A Tooth", Charles sets up these practical jokes between Margaret and Hawkeye and BJ. Classic of Margaret to take Hawkeye and BJ's clothes while they were in the shower. ~Caitlin~

Another great M*A*S*H moment, which I saw tonight while watching my season 8 DVD - Radar leaving behind his teddy bear at the end of "Goodbye Radar Part 2." At truly memorable farewell of one of the shows great characters.

Another great moment from season 8:

"Heal Thyself"

In what is arguably one of the most memorable turns from a guset star, the great Edward Herman (now seen on Gilmore Girls) plays a tormented Doctor who cracks under the pressure of the M*A*S*H operating room. His brilliant scene where we see him cowering in Col. Potters tent, breaking down in front of the other surgeons - an amazing performance.

I like this scene in "The trial of Henry Blake" from season 2:

Hawkeye and a nurse see Klinger hang-gliding while wearing a robe and slippers:

Nurse (to Hawkeye) "What is it?"

Hawkeye: "I don't know."

Nurse: "Well, what's it look like?"

Hawkeye: "A big red bird, with fuzzy pink feet."

Trapper walks up: "Hey Hawk, did you see that?"

Hawkeye: "What did you see?"

Trapper: "A big red bird, with fuzzy pink feet."

Hawkeye turns to the nurse: "See, I told you."

And in "The Winchester tapes" when Charles walks into the swamp, and sees B.J.:

Charles: "Hunnicut"

B.J.: "Winchester"

Charles: "Where's your friend Pierce?"

B.J. "It's Thursday."

Charles: "So?"

B.J. "The nurses hang their underwear on the line. He takes a sandwich and makes a day of it."

also, in "The Trial of Henry Blake" when 1 of the officers says to him "Is it true you have a Corporal in your outfit who's a transvestite?" and Henry says "Oh, I don't pry into a mans religon."

And in "Dear Dad" (the first-and the all-time, 100% best-of their Xmas episodes) when there's an announcment on the PA "ATTENTION-THE FOLLOWING PERSONELL HAVE VOLUNTEERED FOR A 10 MILE HIKE" then the announcer stops talking.

Talking

also, the scene in "Dear Sidney" where Col. Potter is holding a pair of binoculars over his eyes, he takes them away and he has black circles around them! He looks so funny!
(this is another scene that's, unfortunately, been cut out of the sydnicated versions of the show; so you can only see it on DVD)

i like the episode "the general flipped at dawn"

My fave moment is at the end when the general asked the pilot to perform a musical number then walked out of the tent dancing and singing. The look on hawks face was classic.

in "The General Flipped at Dawn" when Gen. Steele is reviewing the troops and Klinger walks up to him, in drag. Gen. Steele turns and sees him and says "Not now mother, I'm reviewing the troops!"

The exact quote was this: "Not now, Marjorie. I'm inspecting the troops."
