Question How do you get tie-dye off your hands?

Okay, I was at school today and there was a tie-dye booth...I brought my own shirts to tie-dye with, and I wore gloves but the dye bled through, so I took 'em off and finished tie-dying w/o the gloves. So as one might expect, I ended up with dyed hands...Yeah.

Anybody have ideas how I can get the dye off a lot more quickly?

Here's a pic of my hands to show the damage...

Good luck! I was doing some shirts last year and the same thing happened! Don't suppose you have any lighter fluid around the house huh? That might do it. Also maybe turpentine, or even bleach. Make sure no matter what you use afterwards you put on lots of lotion to sooth and moisten them again. YIKES!

< thanks to Dawsongirl, I have a visual now of that stocky guy with the beard walking into your house and grabbing your hands and swishing them around in a bucket of Oxy Clean >

Bleach! I was waiting for somebody to say that...Yes, I have bleach too. I'm gonna try that first.

I don't think we have any lighter fluid and we certainly don't have any turpentine. Thanks!

THANK YOU, TRIPPERFAN!

I took some bleach & went into the bathroom...diluted the bleach only a bit, and it came off almost immediately! Weeeee! I still have some tie-dye under my fingernails, but it's ALL GONE now!

Good stuff! That's what I used when it happened to me! Just get some lotion on them now - they'll be dry and itchy otherwise! Yeah, the nails always do take longer. You could try it again on just the nails with a nailbrush or old toothbrush.

(I was an artist - I've tried everything on earth on stains from different media on my hands)!!!

AND Dawsongirl - Yeah that's him!! Don't know why I couldn't place his name - afterall, he yells it at 240 decibles at us!!

I did the same thing once. Colored my hair for a Halloween party (although I was dying it black anyway - that's my natural color) and got some on my face during it. It ended up dying the fine hair you have on your face!!!! I looked like Fred Flinstone with the "5 o'clock shadow" thing! I tried everything - bleach, lighter fluid, nail polish remover - everything. Couldn't get it off and couldn't go to the party.

Someone told me after that you rub ashes (they told me cigarette ashes) on it and it'll take it off. Works too - I've tried it since.

I wish I could get one of those Livestrong bracelets!

I brought a pack of 10 Livestrong bracelets back in March and have 9 sitting around...Nobody else I know wants one, because they all have one. They're youth-size because the adult-size ones fall off.

Wonder how much it would be to mail it up here?!! I have a $5 American bill in my wallet that's not doing anything!!! I know - in order to get them from the internet, you have to buy quantities. Although, I probably could find people who wanted one.

Yeah, I wanted to buy the bracelets off their official website, not from eBay (even tho I do the majority of my shopping there) so I went with their pack of 10 bracelets. I'm keeping a few to have when/if my bracelet breaks. That way, I have more on hand. I've worn it daily for two months and it has yet to break so they're pretty durable.

I don't know how much it would be to ship one bracelet there - I could stuff it in a small envelope and it'd probably be $3USD or something. Just a guess.

How long are they? I have pretty small wrists - I would probably fit a youth size.
