Default Why were the Brady's the only ones at Cindy's play?

That has bothered me ever since I was a child. When they showed it, you get a laugh track. I never understood the joke of why the entire family was the only audience. They never said anything leading up to it. I know Cindy only could invite one parent.

well, it's kinda stupid, but the idea of the episode was that a conflict was created when Cindy (as well as the other kids in the play) were told that they could only invite ONE parent to the performance....

Because Cindy was in a newly "blended" family, as Carol had only recently married Mike, the school felt sorry for her, and therefore, the cast put on a performance at the end of the episode for the entire Brady family, just so Cindy wouldn't feel bad about leaving one of her parents out...

I think that in the final scene, the teacher/director is telling someone that she was glad that they could accommodate Cindy's "special problem".

The real question is: "What kind of school IS this? What sort of pea-pickers would give a bunch of 1st graders ONE ticket each for a show, and tell them it's up to THEM to decide which parent to ask???"

The other question is, why didn't the school have the other "uninvited" parents to the second performance? Why just the Brady's?

But the key to that final scene was that this was a special (second) performance put on by the cast, to take Cindy off the hook...

Yes, that's exactly what happened....the extra performance was for Cindy's benefit, so she wouldn't have to leave one of her parents out.

Good point. As long as they're bothering to do two performances, why not invite the other kids' parents that were left out?

A second performance would have been best but they also could have allowed the Bradys to go to a dress rehearsal. Mike and Carol were at Peter's dress rehearsal.

Apparently the whole "not enough seats in the auditorium" problem sprang up durnig an afterschool rehearsal when the teachers were discussing how they were going to accommodate all of the parents of not only the 26 kids in the play, but also those of the school band performance that same night.

lol the smallest school auditorium I've EVER seen probably had at least 500 seats... what did this school have, like 30 seats in there?

I mean, schools build audtoriums so that there's a potential meeting place for most, if not ALL of the students in the school... what IS that school's problem?
