What are some of your favorite or least favorite Top 40 hits recorded by an actor or actress we might not associate with music (or someone who goes back and forth between acting and singing, like J Lo, for example)?
One of my faves is 'Makin It', recorded by David Naughton in 1979 - he did all those Dr Pepper commercials and starred in 'An American Werewolf in London' |

I also like just about anything John Travolta sang, especially his songs from the movie Grease (Sandy, You're the One That I Want).
I usually don't go for sappier songs too much, but 'Don't Give Up On Us' by David Soul is a guilty pleasure for me (BTW, Owen Wilson sang it beatifully in the Starsky & Hutch movie as well). |

I like Don't Give Up on Us and although I'm not a big fan of John Travolta his work in Grease was good. He had a hit called Let Her In in 1976 as well. J-Lo is a joke, They Don't Know by Tracy Ullman works.
Eddie Murphy's music was horrible - did anyone like Party All the Time, Put Your Mouth on Me or Boogie in Your Butt? |

Yes, me. I thought Put Your Mouth on Me was a great song. I liked How Could It Be as well. Was listening to his Michael Jackson duet Whatzupwitu the other day. I was into Party All The Time and Boogie In Your Butt also. I liked his music for what it was, not to be taken seriously. |

What made it (the single) listenable was that he was joined by one of the Pointer Sisters. One song that I really loved by an actor, it's a mushy song and not a great vocal, but I loved it: She's Like The Wind by Patrick Swayze |

I just thought of a couple more I like:
'Rock On' by Young and the Restless star Michael Damian from 1989 - I thought it was an awesome remake of the David Essex classic (some might not like it as much as the original, but I have a soft spot for Damian's version since it came out around the time I graduated from high school) I also liked Shaun Cassidy when I was a little kid - he recorded some great tunes while he was starring on the Hardy Boys, like 'Da Doo Ron Ron' and 'Hey Deenie' - he had a pretty good voice, just like his brother David.

Ohh I also totally forgot about Will Smith. Though he started out in music, I consider him more of an actor. Ive liked all of his singles so far.
