Default Are we close to a release of "The Ropers"?

The Ropers has a very good chance of seeing release it seems. The Three's Company DVDs have been selling really well, so much so that Pav says that Anchor Bay is seriously considering them for release. Patricia McCormack, who played Ann on The Ropers, had an interview segment that was scratched off the Three's Company DVDs. Fans speculate that this may mean it's been reserved for a possible upcoming DVD release of The Ropers, which would probably come out as a combined Season 1/Season 2 release.

Mention is made of The Ropers throughout the text and extras of the Season 4 DVD release of Three's Company. It almost seems as if they're trying to draw interest in the spinoff; otherwise why mention it that many times? Clearly the spinoff had to be mentioned at least once to explain why Norman Fell & Audra Lindley had exited Three's Company, as well as to explain Don Knotts as the new landlord, but there was more depth to the discussion of the spinoff than just that. I think if they were against releasing the spinoff, mention of it would have been avoided as much as possible for fear of drumming interest in it.

Also, The Ropers had appearances by Richard Kline as Larry, not to mention the original Three's Company trio. That alone will be a draw for fans of Three's Company who may not have thought of buying the spinoff simply for The Ropers themselves.

I think it's good that we'll see The Ropers within a year or so, and it will advertise its minimal John Ritter connection (his guest appearance with Joyce DeWitt & Suzanne Somers).

The Ropers will not sell as well as Three's Company, but even if it did half as well in sales, it means a profit will have been made, and I think Anchor Bay & DLT know that. There's money to be made and they won't pass that up. Lucky for us, eh?

I would love it if The Ropers was released on dvd. Stanley Roper is so funny. My second favorite character from TC behind the hot Chrissy. Suzanne Somers at the age of 60 is still not bad looking at all.

I would buy it, but since i have already seen 19 of 28 eps, it wouldn;t be nothing for me to rush to the store and purchase. It would take me about 4-5 months

It'll probably be out by next Christmas or early half of 2007 since the 8th season of Three's Company comes out in the fall of 2006

Well, the way I hear it, Anchor Bay is very close to securing the rights to this show as well as Three's a Crowd, so hopefully you're wrong (and I know you're hoping you're wrong as well). It didn't seem likely at first, but rumor has it that Anchor Bay is very impressed with how well the Three's Company sets are selling and knowing that there are appearances from the original trio as well as Larry on The Ropers makes the release of the show a potential money maker. Plus, there are fans of Three's Company who have never seen The Ropers so they're banking that some fans will buy the set out of curiousity. Since it will most likely be a combined Season 1 and 2 package, it's not like the fans will have to invest in that big of a project. And Three's a Crowd they're banking on being wanted by John Ritter fans, especially since demand has increased for his shows since his death.

All in all, I wouldn't rule out anything just yet...

Well I won't need to buy the Ropers because I have all the eps on VHS. And Far as Three's a Crowd, I have 19 of the 22 eps from ABC with commercials so I wouldn't buy that show either.

Since I don't have the "3's Com" DVD's yet, I was wondering if there was any kind of tribute to NF and AL. If there isn't, that is beyond shameful....

One major reason for releasing The Ropers on dvd is the crossover episode. The party episode is hysterical and it has the original trio in it. I was surprised, seeing how it aired in syndication as part of Three's Company that this episode wasn't included on the Three's Company set. For that alone, I would buy this set. Plus, after watching TV Land's mini-marathon of The Ropers, I have to say it really was pretty funny. "Mother's Wake" was a hilarious episode. I would love to see more.

TJAMES03, no there weren't any tributes to Norman and Audra that I know of unless they were mentioned in the interviews. I haven't watched all of those yet. I think this would be a great addition to the Three's Company collection.

Here is one way to try and get the ball rolling, this is from the Three's Company Thread about getting the spinoff shows on dvd..It's the email addresses. The second email address is the ones who have the rights to the Ropers.

Anchor Bay's email: TVonDVD@anchorbayent.com
DLT's email: 3sco@dltentertainment.com

I have always been a fan of the show, and I would be much more eager to buy The Ropers on dvd than Three's Company, simply because I can watch TC on tv any day of the week.

I think that it will do OK in sales, it wont get TC's numbers, but it should do respectable if they decide to promote it properly (can we get another marathon PLEASE?)

You make a VERY GOOD POINT. I never thought of that and yes that's even a better reason for the Ropers to come out on DVD since we would have a chance to see the Surprise Party UNCUT.

It's a really funny episode especially when Janet comes down in her towel and she and Chrissy sandwich Mr. Roper as they teach him how to dance. Jeffrey sees them through the window and his jaw drops. His wife comes out and he puts his hands in his pocket with the hose. LOL!!

I think it was supposed to paint a very scandalous picture so that Jeffrey would get the wrong idea and the audience would see the misunderstanding and, hence, the laughs. I've always loved this scene.

Anyone know if there is any word on Anchor Bay furthering the release of the TC dvds by releasing The Ropers or Three's A Crowd?
