I heard that Munster, Go Home! was the first time ever that the Frankenstein and Dracula characters were ever featured in color. That's kind of groundbreaking, isn't it?

I think it was stated in Stephen Cox's book that MGH! had the first appearance of the Frankenstein character in color. Fred Gwynne as Herman had actually already appeared though in color on "The Danny Kaye Show" a few months earlier in March.

I hate to disagree with you, Schmoe56789, but the Danny Kaye skit was in B&W, not color. I have the skit on VHS, and it is in B&W. I could be wrong. Somebody may have recopied it onto VHS in B&W.

Munsters#1, I thought it was orignally in B&W too. The only proof I have of it in color is this information card that was attached to a press photo for the show (which erroneously states that Danny Kaye and Edie Adams are playing Grandpa and Lily). I just hope the color version isn't in the same place as the Marineland special.

Now I'm really stumped! The date says Feb. 1966, when I thought it was Feb. 1965.
I think it's just a mistake, because Danny and Edie don't play Grandpa and Lily, Danny plays Dracula (more like the Bela Lugosi kind) and Edie plays like a witch or something, but definitaly not Lily. As for the date, I think it was filmed in Feb of 65 and not 66, because Herman, physically looked more like the 1965 Herman, and not like the 1966 Herman. Herman in that photo, looks more like he did in Season 1. In Season 2, his head was more narrow, and his cheeks and forehead were not as dark. Which leads me to believe that it aired in Feb of 65, and not Feb of 66. |
