Okay, so which of Klink's secretaries do you like better? Personally, I like Hilda more because her German accent was better.

I know there were at least 2 different women who played the role of Klink's secretary. There may have been 3 but I'm not sure. I didn't know that she had two different names but I guess I never listened closly enough. I always thought her name was Hilda as when Newkirk read the coded message, "Secret plans hidden, looks like a name, Hilda, secret plans hidden Hilda's desk. Does that sound right to you"?
I didn't have a preference since her role was so limited. It wasn't clear if she was aware of what Hogan was doing or not. The pilot show showed her in the tunnel cutting hair but on no other show did she assist Hogan and she was not asked by Hogan to assist is any of their activities. |

Cynthia Lynn played Helga during the first season. When she left, Sigrid Valdis (aka Patricia Olsen) replaced her and they changed her name to Hilda. She was on for the rest of the series. I'm not sure she knew everything about Hogan's operation, but she seemed willing to help out whenever Hogan wanted her to.

It 's too bad that the Hilda character was never developed. We never saw her except at Klink's office or at a party with a group of German officers. She never had an episode that revolved around her. I don't think she was part of the German military since she never wore a uniform. Hogan and the gang never bumped into her at the Hoffbrau House(not sure about the spelling) when they went there but they did happen to see Klink and/or Schultz there occasionally. She did help Hogan out but from what I remember is was without her realizing that she was being used. I'm thinking of the time where for some reason Hogan needed the guard in the tower to be distracted so he told Hilda that his brother was a show business agent and Hogan suggested that they send pictures of her to his brother in Hollywood. Hilda put on a swimsuit and Lebeau took pictures of her which distracted the guard.

Actually, it was Helga, the first girl, in that swimsuit episode.

Hilda was absent from the show I saw the other day. Klink didn't say why she was gone but after putting in a request to General Burkhalter, Klink was sent Gertrude as Hilda's replacement. Gertrude lasted less than a week. Hearing the rumor(since Hogan said it, she apparently thought it must be true) that Col. Klink and Hilda were quite a pair and the men had started to call the Kommandant "Cassanova Klink", she abruptly quit.

Pat is one of the sweetest people I've ever known, so I'd say Hilda. Though both did a great job on the show.
