its not a season set
but its close and good enough for me right now This is what I got from tvshowsondvd.com "Just a bit under a month ago we were a part of the live online chat between The Home Theater Forum and the folks at Warner Home Video. When we reported about the TV-DVD news from that chat, fans of Welcome Back, Kotter were happy to know that the show was being considered as a "Potential Title for Release". Little did we know that we'd get something this fast! Unfortunately, though, the first DVD release for Kotter won't be a complete season set. Instead, Warner has opted to go with their new "Television Favorites" line of releases with this property. The only other time we've heard about this new type of TV-DVD release was a couple of weeks ago, when we brought you news about a similar release for The Dukes of Hazzard. The Dukes "Television Favorites" is a single-disc release featuring 3 episodes of the show, drawn from different seasons, and clearly falls into the "Best Of" category of release. It looks like this is the sort of initial DVD lesson we can expect to be taught by Kotter. Hopefully this is just a quick way of giving the Kotter fans an inexpensive taste while they get busy working on the season sets that they must know all the fans want. Fans won't mind that sort of an upgrade, we're sure, especially if the price is low enough (the similar Dukes release lists for just $9.97). We don't have an official price, though, or a street date, or any other info about this upcoming title. But we DO have the cover art for you:" Link to this page: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3317 All news for this show: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/shownews.cfm?ShowID=4589 More info on this show: Welcome Back, Kotter Copyright 2001-2005 TVShowsOnDVD.com - Contact us |

As long as they are working on season sets, this is decent news.
If season sets are contingent upon big sales of this release then that is a shame. They must know that people who really want season sets may hold out. That is an unfair position to put people in. In the case of the similar release of a few episodes ("Best of") The Dukes of Hazzard, they already have season sets! Since The Dukes have 3 episodes of a 1 hour program at this discount price, I would hope that Kotter would have a minimum of 5 episodes- 6 if they were fair. |

I agree it's decent news. It won't be great news until a season set is announced. One hopes that when this is officially announced they'll also do a season set announcement. I can understand a release like this for anyone who wouldn't commit to a season set purchase, but only a "best of" of a classic show like this is lame. |

OK AL RIGHTY THAN LET ME SAY THIS BEFORE THIS THREAD GETS COMPLETELY OUT OF HAND! I posted everything that tvshowsondvd.com sent to me, which I am well aware that many of you, atleast most of you on this site, belong to that one as well. As far as getting a season sets for WBK, we have to do the same thing we have always done to get the shows we want on dvd. WHICH IS HASSLE THE COMPANIES THAT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THESE SHOWS SO THAT THEY RELEASE THE SHOW ON DVD. WITH THAT SAID I will buy this release of WBK regardless if there is a season set coming or not and I will push for season sets, if they are not planned. I find it sick that some shows that they are releasing like "The Greatest American Hero" and "My Little Pony" have been put out on dvd and for some of the best of All time Like "The Jefferson's and AITF" Have the slowest releases in the world. Come on folks you know what has to be done so lets do it. |

What are you talking about "before this thread gets completely out of hand?" I posted my opinion like you posted yours. I know all about tv dvd release patterns and urging companies to release season sets. I've been screaming about Welcome Back Kotter constantly. Have you taken a look at my comments on the tv- dvd board?? Look here and here and here and here and here and here. You don't have to tell me what to do. |
