Post Cocaine episode??

Has ABC Family aired the cocaine episode or have they deemed it too controversial?

Boeshner, I'm dying to see it, too. Haven't since it originally aired. I was a wise little 11 year-old who thought to tape it, but that tape has since vanished over the years . I'm not sure it ever aired again, from when TBS ran the "Pains" eps. about ten years ago, and of course Disney Channel never did. Would be odd if ABC Family didn't, cuz "Pains" originally aired on ABC. If they thought it was ok to air once, why not again?

It wouldn't be odd if ABC Family didn't air this episode for two reasons.

1. When ABC Family bought the rights to Growing Pains, they were FOX Family and were owned by News Corp.
2. When the episode originally aired on ABC, ABC wasn't owned by Disney. ABC only came under the Disney wing in 1995.

Those probably come into play, Dan, but I just thought it was weird for a network to not air a show they originally had. But I know ABC Family's programming is also geared toward light-hearted stuff during the evening hours.

This episode DID air on "Fox Family" already!! I have it on tape... it aired sometime before or RIGHT after the 13 days of Halloween... Sorry you guys missed it! It was a particularily intersting episode... you are talkign abotu Thank God It's Friday right??? becuase it did indeed air... and i was surprised that mike (being the trouble maker that he is) was SOOO intuitive to refusing cocain... you would think that the slacker who cuts classes all the time and could care less about homework woudl be involved with the wrong crowd.. it was nice to see that even the worst of your class can stand up to the peer pressure of using.. especially since that pretty girl was trying to get mike to use the cocain... i thought it was also clever about the usage of the "bathroom" haha... at lest bonner didn't "go to the bathroom" LOL!

have a good one!

Damn, FOL, I've been waiting 15 years to see that one again. Probly the only one I don't know the lines to yet, since they hardly ever aired it to content. I think Mike's refusal could have only happened in sitcom land. Not to say no ones ever refused cocaine, but you were right about his type of character would probly be inquisitive and give in. Especially with Kristy Swanson tempting him!

Well perhaps the next station that picks it up will play the episode for you.. and if you were dying so much.. i woudla checked the sched when you thought it was near... but i'm glad you agree with me about his "fake" refusal... lol... i only wish that he would have accepted... and jason and maggie caught him off his edge.. and then he learns how it's stupid or somethign like that.. but of course KIRK woudl NEVER allow that! lol!

Have a good one!

Why would a network not want to air an episode that says NO to drugs and shows that even a cool character like Mike (and Kirk's message at the end) thinks it's uncool to take drugs.

Why are they afraid to air this??

I don't think the refusal to do cocain was fake at all. Mike really was a good guy underneith all the stuff he did. And besides it is cocain- even now considered a hard drug. Mike didn't do cocain but I think it more likely that an 80's kid with Mike's attidute would have done a little pot maybe, drank a little, but cocain is much more serious much more likely he wouldn't have done it in my opinion.
