Question Party Ideas?

I've never really had a birthday party with my friends and since this will be my last chance while I'm still living at home, I want to have an 18th Birthday Party and invite some of my friends. But....I'm totally lost as to what to do. I wanted to do something at home but don't really know what. Maybe a "Chicago" themed party or something like that. Does anyone have any ideas or experiences that would be helpful?

You could do favourite movies like Chicago (although, don't know if the guys will like it that much), Lord of the Rings, Goodfellas (or any Mafia theme - everyone's got to have an Italian name and persona), Toga (but that might be pretty old by now), Wizard of Oz, Hawaiin, pretty much anything you like!

If I do have a "movie" party, besides watching the movie, what else would we do? Any suggestions for games, prizes, or goodies?

Well more than watching the movie, everyone comes as one of the characters from that movie. Then your games and prizes would be in keeping with it. Unfortunately I haven't seen Chicago so I can't really help you out there if that's the theme you're wanting. Maybe some Chicago style deep dish pizza (not sure what else Chicago is known for). Are you planning on drinking at the party? If so, you could have one room set up like a bootlegger's den - with a "still" and such.

You're still too young, but I saw Murphy Brown last night and they held a "One Step Closer To Death" themed party for his 30th. Jim came as the grim reaper, everyone wore black like it was a funeral. The cake was in the shape of a casket, etc.. It looked pretty fun. But as I say, at 18 - you're hardly there yet!! Maybe a "Legal Age" themed party of some sort.

I guess I'd have to know exactly what movie you're thinking of playing off of in order to help with more ideas....

You could have everyone dress up in a 30's style costume....watch the movie(maybe some other movies?), pig out on food(can't really think of anything original...Chicago deep dish pizza sounds cool)...

Why not just do a pajama party? Sounds childish..I know...but, hey, you're an "adult" now so you might as well have fun as a kid again Have everyone dress in their pjs(no matter what time it is), rent movies, order pizza, chill out....whatever

Actually that pajama party idea sounds like fun!! Nobody would have to worry about looking sexy (but could I guess)!! It could be especially funny if someone had those all-in-one jammies with the trap door in back! You could do your hair in curlers, cold cream on the face - go all out! Big fuzzy slippers, teddy bears. The pictures would really be fun! Yeah, order pizza, ice cream, roast marshmallows - what you might do at any pajama party! Push the breakables out of the way and have a huge pillow fight!

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think I should do something like that in the near future

You're right-- the pictures would be really cool

AHH! So many cool ideas...pajama party...now that would be the ultimate way to relax because no one would have to worry about anything and we'd all be so comfy in our pajamas. My sister was joking around with me and said that I should have a party at Chuck E. Cheese. At first it was funny, but now, it sounds so cool! (I doubt I'd actually have one there though) But, come on, how cool would it be to dance with Chuck E. and then he'd go "how old are you turning little girl?" "18!!".....lol

Having everyone dress up like flappers would be SOO cool. Where in the world would I find one at this time of the year though?

That's it - that's why the pj party sounds like such a good idea because it's really easy for everyone to do - and to do well! Most people could scrounge up some sort of pj or nightgown (even if they don't sleep in one), a robe, and those funny animal novelty slippers and stuff - same with everyone being really comfortable! That's what helps make it more successful.

Funny you would mention that Chuck E. Cheese. When my husband and I were dating, I wanted to take him to a really nice restuarant for an elegant dinner. Turns out he says to me that he hates those kind of restuarants where there's white tablecothes, waiters, all that. So I wanted it to be special and decided if he likes casual, then I do Chuck E. Cheese!!!

Luckily over the years, his tastes are now a little more refined!!

The invitations for your pajama party would be fun too - those baby shower card designs with little bears in pj's sleeping on the moon sort of thing!

Hey - I'm not!!! I've been dying to find a GOOD pair - with the trap doo - (I've had a couple of pairs, but no door, and it's freezing when you go to the washroom ).

I just haven't been able to find a really good adult size pair of them anywhere!
