Its abit rude when they dont, but maybe some people just dont feel like smiling,I dont take it personally.Sometimes I dont return a smile either, esepcially if I'm in a bad mood.

Yeah I agree it's rude. But yeah I guess they could be in a bad mood, but it's still kinda rude.

i've done that to people a few times when i was in a **** mood. it actually makes me feel really bad. from the way i've seen it, you shouldn't feel ashamed or anything if someone does that to you, because it isn't your problem.

I find it very rude. Luckily, MOST people smile back though.

Just go thru life with your head down all the time. Then you won't have to worry.

well my prob isn't with smiling but I've said hi to people before in the hallways and junk and there have been times when they say nothing back. for that reason, i never say hi to anyone anymore and usually try to avoid running into people. i will definitely say hi though if they say something first. im sensitive about this too.

I think its rude too. I hate customers who are like that, so then I just act towards them the way they act towards me. It kinda puts me in a pissy mood after. Whether youre not in the mood or not, you should just return the smile because it does put people in a down mood too. I dont like it when I hold the door open for people and they dont say thank you. Happened today so I was just all.. <diva>YAH YOURE WELCOME!</diva> UGH. /rant

I reckon I am more friendlier online, than I am off.I dont know, people just piss me off so much lately.I cant even stand being nice to people outside, unless I know them (and LIKE them),I really dont give people the time of day anymore.I used to,but it never made me any happier.

that is really rude. once i was leaving a store and a man held the door open for me and i was going to take it because i wanted to be nice and i'd hold it for someone else. but instead the man wouldn't move and he told me very rudely to just "keep walking". well maybe he was just trying to be nice but it came across as rude. so nowadays it's hard to tell what's rude when it comes to those things.
