I guess I'd go for Benson

However, I would say that ABC in the 80's was mostly inferior to 70's ABC (Taxi, Mork And Mindy, Happy Days) and 90's (Roseanne, Ellen), the best ABC programs in the 80's were the shows from the other decades that happened to bleed in with the 1980's IMO.

Just The 10 Of Us and The Charmings were great sitcoms that ABC killed in their prime.

Here's a real surprise.....Benson!!

For those of you who just mentioned Benson, PLEASE come to the Benson message board and sign my petition for Benson on DVD. If I can gather enough signatures I am going to e-mail the petition to Columbia TriStar (they own the rights to the show). If we can show there's enough interest it will really help a lot!

Thanks!

I agree. NBC was most definitely the highlight on the 80s.
The 70s were split between ABC and CBS, while the 90s were between NBC and ABC. NBC was dreadful in the 70s, while for the most part CBS sucked in the 80s and 90s. ABC was never too bad.

Anyways.... I'm going with Perfect Strangers.

I didn't realize this was a best ABC comedy. I mistook it as the worse comedy of the 80s. I got it mixed up with your WORSE CBS comedy thread. I'll go with Webster.

Good thread. I like Perfect Strangers. I guess Three's Company would be considered 70s, even though it had 4 years in the 80s. Noteables: Webster, Who's the Boss?, Benson, Growing Pains, Three's a Crowd, Mr. Belvedere.

wasn't Jerry Seinfeld on Benson early on? I think Sony can use his presence on the show as a benefactor to get it onto DVD.

Yes he was! He was a comedian on the show as well (I think he told jokes to the governor/for the governor--something along those lines). I have an episode on VHS with Seinfeld and it's funny to see him "younger"

As far as using his presence to benefit the show's release, I never really thought about it in that sense, but you could be right. We'll see what happens soon enough, hopefully!

Maybe that's because during the 80's, Roseanne was only aired on ABC from Sept of 89 to Dec of 89-LOL
