Default Rachel In Season 6

This was discussed in the "Why Didn't Rachel Come Back As A Regular?" Thread but do you guys think that Rachel still lived with the Winslows when she appeared in season 6, or just visiting? She was not seen or mentioned in the 5th season not even the Christmas episode but in season 6 she magically reappears with no explanation but for only 6 episodes. But then Carl says that Rachel still lives with them in season 7. Just bizarre writing in my opinion. What do you guys think?

I do think Rachael was still in fact living with the Winslows during Seasons 5 and 7 and probably 8. She just was never seen. The way I look at it Family Matters is only a half hour long. And they usually aired about 22 episodes a year or so so there you only have 11 hours out of one year to see exactly what goes on in the Winslows Household. It's very possible Rachael was around just never around when we saw Family Matters on TV. I know that sounds corny and bizarre but I think it's a Unique way of looking at things.

That is a good and unique way of looking at things. You probably just have to come up with your own explanations. But there were times in which they acted like Rachel did not live there like an episode in season 5 when Harriette told Carl he had to watch Richie. Carl then said well Laura, Eddie or my mother could watch him and Harriette said they were all at the mall. And it boggled my mind that they did not at least bother to mention where Rachel (his own mother was) and why she could not watch him. And when Harriette mentioned she and Carl would have the house to themselves and she mentions why Laura, Eddie and Richie won't be there but she does not even mention Rachel. If Rachel still lived there wouldn't you think Harriette would mention her?

I agree it is quite a mysetry. It's like in some ways they handled Rachael's charachter like they did with Judy. Yet they ended up bringing her back then once again she was gone again. Only to be mentioned just once more. Then to return on the Christmas episode from the last season, finally having an explination about where she had been all that time. Yet the year before that she was mentioned as living with them. So it's like the writers had no clue on how to handle the charachter of Rachael. I guess they were focusing so much on Steve, Eddie, Myra, Waldo and Laura they didn't take the time to think about it.

Yep and I just thought about two more episodes from season 8. One being I think when Carl and Harriette wanted to go to the New Edition concert but they had to watch Richie and 3J. Carl then tells Harriette that they still can't believe they are raising children in this point in their lives or something like that. Then it makes you wonder still where is Rachel?? That was another opportunity for the writers to explain something but again left us hanging. And another one I believe 3J and Richie were making prank calls and pretending they were poor to get some money or something and Harriette was the one who punished them at that point they could have had Harrriette say I am going to tell/or call your mother.

The first eps in season 6 where Rachel reappeared, didn't Rachel tell Carl, right when they were walking in the house, something like "Thanks for picking me up Carl." Wouldn't that make it appear as if she was maybe just visiting.

Yep your right that is why I assumed she was visiting then in season 7 Carl tells that auditor that she lives with them. Maybe she moved temporarily.

Yeah, the writers were pretty bad with continuty, when Waldo left at least they mentioned in a season 8 eps why he was no longer there, even though they didn't do an episode dedicated to his departure. But for continuity purposes that's really all we needed.

Yeah but they never explained what happened to Weasel. But with Weasel I always figured that mabye he just stopped hanging out with Eddie and found a new group of friends. Weasel left the show right after Eddies Senior year, and in my expirience I know a lot of people I used to hang out with in High School who I stopped hanging around with after High School and never saw them anymore. So that's they way I look at it with Weasel.

I think Weasel should have stayed on a little longer though, I just saw an eps from season 7 where Eddie,Waldo, and some other guy named Bone Crusher walked in the living room and sat on the couch with Carl, later on the 3 of them snuck in the kitchen looking for something to eat. The entire time I watched these scenes I kept thinking shouldn't Weasel be here instead, he hung out with Waldo and Eddie so many times throughout seasons 4/5 and Bone Crusher never did.
