Post The 7th season Ashton/Topher finale "Til' the Next Goodbye" 5/18/05

After leaving Hyde a going-away letter, Jackie finds herself stranded in Point Place avoiding her ex-boyfriend. The pair eventually collide and share bitter final words, and Jackie convinces Kelso to help her forget Hyde. Leo returns and convinces Hyde to go after Jackie. Meanwhile, Eric's final preparations for his African trip include getting vaccinated and having one last 360 with the guys. Their time reminiscing is cut short when Red uncovers what they've been doing in the basement all these years and gives the gang a healthy tongue-lashing. Eric's grand exit to the airport with Donna falls apart in typical fashion when the Vista Cruiser won't start, but his friends and family are there as they've always been to give him the support and help he needs.

This episode is the second part of the hour-long season finale and will therefore air at 8:30 pm

Goodbye Topher and Ashton (1998-2005)

NOTE: Feedback will be divided with the 2 part season finale episodes. Thank you.

This is going to be so hard for me to watch I've been watching this show(on and off ) since it aired in 1998. I love Topher and Ashton!

Really good episode tonight. Both halves of the season finale were really strong and probably the best shows they've done in a long time. The comedy was actually funny and the drama was very nicely incorporated without feeling overdone. Grace and Prepon really nailed their scenes together and it was extremely enjoyable.

I'm not a huge fan of the Jackie/Hyde story but those actors have been excellent together all season when it comes to this drama so it really works. The cliffhanger wasn't huge but it was far better than what they ended the show on last year and leaves a lot to be explored. They won't go with a Jackie/Kelso reunion but the fact they're actually acknowledging their relationship is a huge step in the right direction.

Great way to end another lackluster (but improving) season. I'm not too worried about Eric leaving now because I think Charlie's innocence provides a lot for the writers to work with. Let's just hope they do it right.

really funny ep and a nice farewell for topher i also liked the way they handled erics goodbye it was sad in a way but they didnt overdo it it was really funny when red caught the kids in the basement and went on and on about what they had been doing in there all these years the floating heads thing was really funny my mother was watching the show with me and she laughed out loud at that part all in all a good way to end the season

I didn't like the first episode, but "Til The Next Goodbye" was pretty good. If they just cut off that last little part with Jackie and Hyde and Kelso I can pretend that this was the series finale and the last scene was them all pushing the Vista Cruiser out of the driveway. The show won't be the same without Topher, and certainly not the same without Topher and Ashton. And that guy Charlie is not a very good replacement either. It seems the only thing they have left is the Jackie/Hyde storyline and I'm just bored with that. They've drug it out too long and I just don't care anymore. But Eric got a good farewell. I particularly enjoyed the last circle, Red and Kitty yelling at them about the Circle, Kelso and Eric waiting to get shots, and the final scenes between Eric/Red and Eric/rest of the cast. I wish Topher and Ashton all the best. They certainly were smart to get out now.

Can't imagine watching next season.

Lame ass ending.

So forced.

And then to end with Kelso and Jackie when we know Ashton is gone.
OH boy a whole season of Jackie and Hyde working on their relationship!!
I thought this was a sitcom.

How can the ending be so forced?! I really found it so funny, especially when Eric and the gang were caught in the circle. I liked Kelso's head twirling actions so I think it was one of the best finales in a long time but that's your opinion so to that!

Forced in like the stupid scenario with Eric and Donna's goodbye- the princess Leia thing was lammme.

Forced as in all the terribly unfeeling goodbyes- Kelso, Fez, Hyde.

Forced as in Eric yelling goodbye to Point Place- like we don't know what that symbolizes? Yes, Topher, you are leaving the show.

The reprimand for the circle was funny, but that was it.

I give you the for your lack of good taste.

And for a moderator who has been on the site for less 6 months I will add,

WHATEVER.

Fine with me, I'm just giving you some crap, it's all in good fun.

You started it!

Obviously we have different opinions, it's no big deal to me.

This was the first episode I've seen all season. I enjoyed it. It could have been better, but I still enjoyed it. The only thing I felt was forced was actually my favorite scene. Where Eric and Kelso are getting shots. I say forced because it was never actually said on the show that Kelso is leaving too. So to have that scene with just the two of them seemed forced. But like I say, that was still my favorite scene of the show.

Is it known if Charlie will be one of the replacements? It would make sense, since he's already been on a couple episodes.

So is Eric supposed to be gone for just a year or is it longer?

Hi TVAdam! I've just looked at your avatar and I am stoked to see My favorite show NewsRadio finally out this Tuesday. IMO, the DVD was long overdue to be released and not it is! Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's just a year. But when he gets back, he'll be headed to college and there doesn't appear to be a real one (aside from the Community College but I think Eric wants out for good) in Point Place so he probably will be gone for a total of five years. Pretty much shows that next season HAS to be the last one.

I'm hoping "NewsRadio" will get a bunch of new fans, thanks to the DVDs. That's how I got into "That 70's Show." I own the first two seasons on DVD and can't wait for the third.

Plus, if they go on for much longer, it's gonna be even harder to believe that it's still the 70's. If not for the title, they probably wouldn't have to be stuck in the 70's. Then again, maybe they would - I don't know.
