Mary-Kate & Ashley and Columbia Records - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Coory, It was two years ago this past two weeks that the Olsen Twins was announced that they had signed a deal with Columbia Records. They re-released 10 CD's of music produced when they were kids according to a spokesman for the twins' company, Dualstar Entertainment Group. I have nine CD's of Mary-Kate & Ashley except the one that I don't have is "Give Us a Mystery". From "Brother for Sale" to "Greatest Hits 3". As you know Columbia is a division of Sony/BMG Music. In the early 90's the twins first signed a deal with BMG Music at the time. In the late 90's, Lightyear reissued the Twins' CD's until 2002 where Lightyear went out of business. The later distributer WEA was sold where they ended up with Sony Music (now Sony/BMG). Columbia is the label that implies Johnny Mathis, Barbra Streisand, Rosemary Clooney, Mitch Miller, Tony Bennett, Earth, Wind & Fire and many others including current artists like Destiny's Child, Jessica Simpson and others. But why did Mary-Kate & Ashley ended up with a major label? I looked at the Olsen Twins CD's that on the back that has the Columbia name on it. I have the CD "Brother For Sale" that has an old Lightyear matrix number 54247-2. In Columbia's reissue, the matrix number was changed to CK 89116. You should get the CD at Best Buy, Target, Barnes & Noble and those other stores. By the way, did you look at the link about the history of Columbia Records?

I will give you just an example of those two Mary-Kate & Ashley albums that I put up for a recreation of the 50's Columbia label. The label had just a history. Back in the 50's. Columbia records had put out those two of the labels. One is mono and the other stereo. I created those track listings of how it looked a lot more retro. Here it is.
