Default shows you like more as you get older

there have been lots of threads about shows such as Full House and the sort that people here loved as kids, but revisiting them as an adult, find the shows incredibly annoying.

This is the flip side.

What are shows that you can get into now more than you did when you were younger?

the biggie that comes to mind is Murphy Brown. The show premiered when I was 8 and I did not like it at all, but now I love the reruns on N@N and even have the first season on DVD. The show is so much better through adult eyes than through eyes of someone who watched ALF and TGIF. I know it lasted until I was 18, but the show went so far downhill when Miles left and Lily Tomlin came in instead.

I always liked Seinfeld, but I would say revisiting the show on DVD (I don't watch much syndication so a lot of episodes I haven't seen in years) that I find the majority of these episodes 100 times funnier through adult eyes than through younger eyes. Back then I mostly watched it because Kramer was funny, now I think the whole thing is a comic masterpiece.

Roseanne is the big one for me. I was only 8 when it left the air in 1997, but I started watching reruns on TBS around 1999 or 2000, and loved it. I then took a break after I had seen all the episodes, came back to it in 2002 when it was airing on a local station late at night in marathons, and watched it through the beginning of the run on N@N and Oxygen. I have since stopped for the most part to take a break from it. I had been watching it so much I had gotten sick of it.

Roseanne.... I watched it all the time as a kid, I've seen probably every episode 3 or 4 times, at least. However, back then I only got the occassional joke, but now.... I like it more than ever.

I used to deplore Friends and M*A*S*H, but they have both since come to entertain me. Friends is now one of my top favorites, and M*A*S*H just keeps getting better and better. The same can be said for Everybody Loves Raymond, because, although I still may not like Raymond -- his parents and brother more than make up for it.

I would say Barney Miller is one show I didn't like when I was younger but like now.

I completely agree. Even two or three years ago, all I would watch would be sitcoms (and the rare reality show). Now, I watch more dramas than sitcoms on TV. I've gotten into a lot of current dramas, while a few older ones just don't do it for me.

I used to hate NYPD Blue and the L&O and CSI series, but now I love them all.

I used to hate CSI too, but then I got to watching the weekend reruns and it's not too bad.
