Default The Olsens Break Uncle Jesse's Heart!

From Star Magazine:

The Olsens Break Uncle Jesse's Heart!

How do you say 'no' to Uncle Jesse? That's the predicament Mary- Kate and Ashley Olsen found themselves in when former Full House mentor John Stamos asked them to appear on his limping new sitcom, Jake In Progress.

ABC had high hopes that the likeable, 41- year-old Stamos could score a ratings hit with his new show. Despite debuting in the plum 9 p.m. EST Sunday spot that normally is home to Desperate Housewives, Jake In Progress drew just half the viewers who normally visit Wisteria Lane each week.

In an anxious move, Stamos sent out a call to Mary-Kate and Ashley, who are like family to the actor after he played their Uncle Jesse on the hit Full House from 1987 to 1995, a friend of the actor says.

"He figured it wasn't too early to get into some stunt casting, and sent out an S.O.S.," the friend said.

"He is very tight with them," the friend adds. "They visit him whenever they get a chance. So he asked Mary-Kate and Ashley if they were up for a guest appearance on the show --he knew if nothing else, that would bring in the audience."

DISSING UNCLE JESS
The request put the college students in an awkward position, says another source -- and their response must have put Stamos down in the dumps.

"It really isn't something they want to do -- but John has been so good to them their whole lives they really didn't know how to say no," says the source. "They told him as nicely as they could that they really want to concentrate on their studies and aren't really doing much of anything in the way of acting this year."

Mary-Kate and Ashley asked John if they could hold off until next season to do it and maybe film in late summer. "According to Ashley, John told them 'Hey, my show may not be on that long!'" the source says.

STILL A HAPPY FAMILY?
Mary Kate and Ashley told him if they could possibly do it, they will, the source says. But they're waiting to see if the network orders up more episodes. "They love John and would do anything for him, but it's not something they're jumping at," the source says.

For Stamos, Jake in Progress is a much needed opportunity to spark his career following the end of his six-year marriage to Rebecca Romijn.

Olsen rep Michael Pagnotta tells Star that he didn't know if Stamos had asked the twins to appear, adding, "They love John and are very supportive of everything he does. [But] they are not making any public appearances or taking any jobs right now."

Stamos' rep, Lewis Kay, tells Star: "John has never asked the girls to do the show... and he isn't the least bit upset with them about anything."

Is this a recent article? I read over on another message board that there was someting in Star Magazine about John Stamos and the Olsen's, but they said not to believe what it said because it was a little weird, but they didn't go into spacifics on what the article was about. I wonder if this is what they were talking about?
