Which atists performed the theme music on the show?

It was Jack Elliot and Allyn Ferguson. Jack Elliot also went on to do the theme music for Night Court. The pair of Elliot & Ferguson also did the themes to Charlie's Angels, The Rookies, and even did the jingle for the original Lorimar Television music that was heard from (1968-Jan. '86) with two different logos used with that jingle.

btw, there were several arrangements done for the opening theme and also several arrangements for the closing theme as well. Also, they even composed the show's closing production company jingle to Four D Productions. (Dun-Duh-Dun-Dun-Duh-Duh...Ding-Ding-Ding-Ding-Ding..Dunh!)
