Default Why did we like this show so much?

Looking back on it today, the show is kind of unrealistic. I wouldn't know if a "Brady Bunch" really exist, but here is what I loved about it.

1. Everyone was close- now c'mon. Three boys and three girls from a different family? And they actually got along like they've been knowing each other all of their lives.

2. It was funny.

3. I was small- and this is one of the shows I grew up on.

4. The parents didn't mind scolding the other- even if it wasn't their child. Mike would get on the girls and Carol would sometimes get on the boys. And neither parent minded one bit. Can't do that these days. Yell at a kid that is not even yours.

5. There was always something about it that you can relate to.

Any others??

I know think that I like to watch it cause...

1. Retro style and I like to see what actually has come back in style (especially those styles I made fun of in the 80's saying I wouldnt be caught dead in that and know I were those trendy retro clothes)

2. I watched it in order to make fun of it back in the 80's, but now I watch it cause I have become my mother and think that it is a good show for children to watch.

3. Still waiting to see one of the Brady kids to really screw up, I know they wont but cant help watching and hoping they will

4. I like to see how back in the 60's/70's sexual references and adult humor were snuck into a show without being so in your face with it like today

5. It is so "groovy" to listen to the way they talked and all the family lectures they had.

I watch the show because it represented a simpler time for me and it really does take me back.

I grew up on it. Been watching it nearly since the beginning. And just like Gilligan's Island, I know the plot seconds after the opening credits end. With Gilligan I can close my eyes and still get it rather quickly.

But this is a good question. Nostalgia. Simpler time like Little House on The Prairie and Andy. Bradys are the same.

I call show like these comfort shows. They just make me feel good on the worst day.
