Default If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all

I am so upset and depressed. Okay, so I don't get insurance thru work, so I have to buy my own. Well, the stuff I had was worthless. It was supposed to pay for 2 doctor's visits, but it paid for none. And it went up to $2000 a year. So now we're shopping around for something else. Of course, it really doesn't matter, because it's all overpriced and a waste of money, but I'm afraid that either I won't be able to see a doctor without it or something will happen that we won't be able to afford. Last night, this dude comes to our house to show us a plan. He's showing us a prescription brochure and I look at it and my mom nonchalantly asks if mine is on there. Then the salesman asks what I take. I tell him Paxil. He asks what it's for. I say anxiety. He asks if I'm seeing a doctor for it and if I've been clinically diagnosed. Well, DUH, but I say yes. He then tells us that I probably would get denied because I have anxiety. Then a friend of my mom's, who is also in insurance, tells her virtually the same thing. Excuse me?! I have anxiety, and suddenly I'm a huge expense risk, like people with cancer or chronic diseases. Do these companies not understand what anxiety/depression is?? It's a disorder, not a disease. All it costs me is one doctor's visit a year and 12 months of pills. But suddenly I'm like a person with 15 bankruptcies and a bounced check trail a mile long. All over something I can't help. It's a damn chemical imbalance, you &*!@$^&5s.

It actually made me cry because these people are mean and I already felt like a loser because I can't get a full time job with benefits. I took what I could. I hate this country and its completely ****ed up health care system. I might as well just get sick and die for all this government cares. It's cheaper that way.

I know how you feel. I got turned down for life insurance at work and the only reason they gave was because I had rheumatoid arthritis!! As if anyone has ever died from that. Gimme a break!

A lot of insurance companies won't cover pre-exising conditions. Now had you already had insurance coverage and while you were on it you discovered you had this disorder they may have covered you. It's so unfortunate and I feel for you. As much as I love this country, I agree that the health care system here really sucks. I know people who are in their 20's and 30's who are unmarried, have a houseful of kids, no HS diploma and no job who get Medicaid and are fully covered. Don't have to pay for prescriptions, office visits, nothing. Makes me want to bang my head against the wall, it is so unfair.

Well it's true that sometimes insurance won't cover sometimes.Maybe you
look for help on various web pages about insurance and stuff. I feel that
sometimes but I hope you find help and more comfort soon.

I don't mind having to pay for Paxil; I already do anyway. I just think it's ridiculous to get turned doen for health insurance as a whole because of one thing I'm not gonna die of.

My mom's insurance friend told her I should get Medicare. And I probably could, because I don't make much. But then I thought that was rude because I'd be taking it away from someone who really couldn't pay. And then I got all snotty and thought that would make me look poor. Which is a rotten attitude to have.

I think I've looked at all the companies around here. I got one bonus in that the clinic I work for had a list of a bunch of them on their website. So I looked at a bunch of them at work.
