Default Can't Wait Any Longer

Ok, rumor is that we'll find out about the fate of American Dreams sometime in the middle of May. A whole month away. I don't want to sit around and wait anymore. Its so frustrating reading articles about the possible end of the show. We have to do something if we really want "AD" to be on another year. We should set another date to bombard NBC with emails or something.

Anyone have any ideas how to save the show???? We need something BIG!!

Several years ago, one of my alltime favorite shows was on the bubble. The show was "Once and Again". Many of the members paid to have a full sized billboard notice concerning saving the show. I believe it was put up very close to the Television studio where the show was filmed. All the big wigs from the network were aware of the billboard. The show was cancelled regardless.

"O&A" was a great show. ABC really screwed that one up. They were constantly messing with the date of the show, putting it on long breaks, etc. They did the same thing to "Homefront". Basically, the networks suck!

AD Fan, I'm not very patient in this either. I too want to do something instead of just sitting here and hoping!

Great 8 and sunshinegirl.....that's really wild..it sounds like we like the same kind of shows. I was nuts about Homefront and Once and Again also! And it always seems like the networks do the same thing to all my favorite shows.....not advertising enough....taking long breaks between shows.....not showing any reruns.....moving the day and time they are on.......it really gets frustrating.
What about doing the mass e-mailing again? Someone suggested that on one of the threads on....Earth Day? I'm not even sure when that is....but it sounds like a great idea to me. It sounds like....from the Jonathan Prince Q&A's that our e-mails right after the season finale, made a big impact.

We just got word recently from someone at NBC that postcards make much more of an impact than emails, so that's what we are focusing on right now.

I am skeptical of attention-getting things like billboards and full-page ads in magazines because they cost A LOT of money to do, and yet they really don't affect the network execs. THe way the execs are going to be affected is if you BUY the show's products, (DVD set, soundtrack, a.k.a. money in NBC's pocket,) or supporting their advertisers, (more $$$.) So the best ways to help:

1.) Write more postcards to NBC. Write them every day if you want to. Think of the fact that the NBC presidents' offices will be filled with bags and bags of mail, all from AD fans. Also, much cheaper than a billboard.

2.) But the DVD set and soundtrack. The NBC Store online actually has the best prices online, even better than Walmart, Best Buy, or Amazon.

3.) Support the sponsors. Writing to the sponsors is great, but the only way to sway them is to BUY THEIR PRODUCTS. But some Campbell's Soup and mail them the labels w/ a letter saying you support them because they advertise on AD. Buy some Oreos or Kraft Singles and send then the UPC codes with a note. That will get their attention. Then, they will go to NBC and want to buy more ads during AD. If the sponsors are beating down NBC's door to advertise on AD, why WOULDN'T they bring the show back?

Keep yourself 'in the know' by checking the official campaign website about once a week for updates. www.americandreamsfanclub.com/dreamalive.htm

What if we set a date for everyone to send a postcard? (Similar to what we did with the emails.) Since the postcards seem to be more effective than the emails. Instead of NBC getting a few(?) postcards everyday, maybe getting hundreds or even thousands on one day would have a greater effect.

Just an idea.

Default Groovy idea, but .......

That sounds like a really groovy idea, to have all of us send postcards on the same day, however it will never work like the emails did. Given the fact that we live all over the country, the mail is gonna arrive at different intervals for all of us, so it would not be effective. It's a great idea, it just won't work!!
