I have Norton AntiVirus, and it keeps letting me know the Trojan horse is there.

I'm downloading Symantec's Trojan QHost fix, as Marlene suggested. I'm crossing my figners.

Since it's called a Trojan horse, I assume it hides gremlins inside a program to steal your private data - and comes out to attack when you least expect it!

Pirate yourself a copy of XP, back your stuff up, format, and eliminate your porn surfing habits.

Well, the Qhost fix-it tool is running like crazy as I type. In fact, it's making note of everything I've ever done on the Internet!

McAfee is good, but if you want something free try AVG.

A Trojan virus isnt exactly the name of a virus, but rather a type of viruses. They're named "Trojan" because they sneek in, whether it's completely without your consent or gets in disguised as something other than what it actually is.

What it can do and how much damage it can cause depends on the virus.

typically, when your antivirus program finds a Trojan Horse, you hope that it will identiify it well enough for you to either manually delete it or download an appropriate removal tool.

Quote:
A Trojan Horse portrays itself as something other than what it is at the point of execution. While it may advertise its activity after launching, this information is not apparent to the user beforehand. A Trojan Horse neither replicates nor copies itself, but causes damage or compromises the security of the computer. A Trojan Horse must be sent by someone or carried by another program and may arrive in the form of a joke program or software of some sort. The malicious functionality of a Trojan Horse may be anything undesirable for a computer user, including data destruction or compromising a system by providing a means for another computer to gain access, thus bypassing normal access controls.
a lot of times a trojan will actually be a "backdoor" program that will allow access to your machine so that it can be controlled remotely, it usually comes as an attachment or embedded in another program that LOOKS harmless - so just like the original Trojan Horse, it tricks you into letting it in and then it takes over from the inside....
