Default How would you react if you arrived 20 mintues early for a job interview and you

were dressed to impressed, and you tell the receptionist why you are there so the receptionist goes and gets the interviewer. The interviewer forgot or wasn't told you were coming to meet with them and tells the receptionist to ask you-"Do you think you will be able to reschedule?"

A)would lose interest in working for that company?

B)Would you reschedule and come back another day to be interviewed?

I would be very tickked off and rant about it all day, but I would eventually reschedule.

It would depend on how bad I needed the job. I would reschedule if I really needed the money but if I had other job opportunities lined up I would forget about the place since they forgot about me.

I guess i was frustrated because if I called the interviewer the day of the interview at the exact time the interview was supposed to start and asked can I reschedule because something came up, i'm confident he/she would not be interested in rescheduling another interview.

Yes, it would depend on the situation. If you are really interested in the position, then reschedule.

One thing that interviewers seem to forget is that they, too, are being interviewed… by the job applicant. I cannot begin to tell you have often I have gone on interviews and the person questioning me is not able to answer my questions. Or they give me a “skills test” that they have not yet tested themselves, so I end up being their guinea-pig. Gee, thanks! But really, it’s “no thanks” as far as I am concerned. It is the responsibility of the potential employer to be prepared for the interview. If they are being so inconsiderate and unprepared at a time when they are also making a “first impression,” I figure that they might very well run their business the same way, and that is not a situation that I want to be a part of.

If the reason for the employer’s need for rescheduling is because some unforeseen events occurred, then that makes the situation understandable. If they simply forgot, then I would not want to come back.

Basically, it depends on the "feel" of the whole thing. A gut reaction. And whether or not I am really interested in that particular job, with that particular company.

I agree and don't blame you at all. I would be ticked off too. But the way I feel is that jobs are very hard to come by these days and if it were me and I didn't have any other jobs lined up at the moment and had bills to pay, I would just reschedule. I would feel stupid like they were walking all over me but I would rather do that then have bills keep piling up on me and not have health insurance etc...

TV I know your frustration, and you are right, if you did the same thing the interviewer would see that as a negative against you. Unfortunately these people who have jobs, feel that they can behave anyway they want to.

But your looking for a job, and if the job interests you enough then I would reschedule the appointment.

I feel your pain.

It would depend on how desperate I was for a job. If I had other prospects, then I'd leave and never go back. Don't really wanna work for someone with crappy management.

Solomon, I say reschedule. A few years ago I scheduled an interview with someone and on the day of the interview, the interviewer no showed. It pissed me off, but I rescheduled and eventually got the job.

What happened was when the receptionist asked me could i reschedule, i said probably not and was getting ready to leave. But before I left, the receptionist stopped me and asked could I wait 15-20 mn and she arranged for someone else to interview me. So i was very close to leaving but she wanted to see if they could get someone else to interview before I left.
