So anyway last night I broke up with my boyfriend. Not many of you talk to me or know anything about me, but advice would be nice. I'm only 17 and it was the first time I was in love. I don't want to get into why we broke up, but it wasn't because either of us were cheating. I feel pretty low and didn't go to school. I really don't know what to do today. I feel really sad.

Breaking up is very hard to do, especially since he was your first love. Try to live each day as they come and try to cherish the good memories that you shared with your first boyfriend, and remember time does heal all wounds...

Breaking up always sucks(depending on the circumstances) especially if it is for the first time. But I guarantee you that you will get over this. It might seem like a big deal now, but in time, this will be nothing.

hang out w/ you girlfriends and mope for a while... breakup's suck... Ben&Jerry was there for me every time I had to go through it... I love those guys.

Hey hon,

I've gone through my fair share of break-ups and it's SO hard at first. But time does heal, as corny as that sounds. Try surrounding yourself with friends and good times- go out a lot. It helped me. Actually, I picked up some extra shifts at work just so I wouldn't be at home dwelling on it

Not only did I make a LOT of money but I got to be busy and think about other things other than my ex. It really works.

Go out with friends....go to the movies or the mall or whatever you like to do. Friends are amazing.

And I agree with the user above- Ben and Jerry make excellent dates

Is SO true - and what Retrogirl82 said - it sounds cliche, but you WILL get over it. You'll even look back and know that there's no way he was the right guy for you in the longrun. That's why they're "first loves" - not "permanent loves"!!

I used to take a whole day or two, and just mope like crazy - put on every sad love song I had, cried my heart out, pigged out on ice cream and/or cheese cake, maybe buy myself a little something and then party like crazy with my girlfriends!! There's a whole sequence to it!!

It helps that you did the breaking up, but still hurts. Not too worry - at 17 there'll be a LOT more loves in your life. Just learn from this experience and another relationship will be around the corner! Who knows - some other guy might be very happy when he gets the word cuz he could have had his eye already on you!

Great advice from everybody. I would've said the same thing. Just give it time, that's all I can tell you. I know you miss him alot already but it's only been a day. While it may seem like you'll never meet anybody else ever in your life, one day, when you least expect it, you will.

Give yourself time to 'mourn' the end of your relationship, but also stay strong. The best of luck to you.

breaking up is NEVER easy, especially with your first love. Just because you wanted too doesn't make it easy, sometimes that can even make it harder. You'll be OK

It will take a little while before you get over him but you will. Pretty soon someone else will come along and then someone else and then someone else until you find the right person.
