Default What should they have done with Harriette?

I think it's ridiculous that they simply recast the part of Harriette after Jo Marie Payton left, she played that character for 11 years. What do you guys think the writers should have done with the character of Harriet?

I also think they should not have replaced Harriette (JoMarie Payton) especially with someone who did not even look or act like her at all. Like you said she played the character for 11 years and she was the one who was spun off from Perfect Strangers. I think maybe they could have said that her job required her to travel to another branch (out of state)of Fergusons (the department store she worked at) for a couple of months. That would have been a good follow up to the episode where she got promoted in season 9. It would be kind of hard to write out Harriette but that would have been better than replacing her with another actress

I noticed that the writers of Family Matters were very lazy when it came to writing out characters:

1. No explanation for Judy's disappearance just ceased to exist.

2. No explanation for Rachel's disappearance and why Richie was left behind. (until season 9, that is too long) So if you lost interest in FM before that you would not know unless you catch the re-runs.

3. They just simply recasted Harriette with just any old body instead of doing a proper write out.

4. No explanation as to why Richie was hardly seen in the last season.

Yea thats the one thing about the show I didn't like. They didn't seem to care what happened to these characters and thought we should just forget they ever existed.

They all just vanished and never talked about again. Maybe we can assume that Weasel went away to college because in the 6th season is when Waldo and Eddie started college and Weasel last appeared in the 5th season.

I think Weasel got involved in a life of crime. Thats the way I always pictured he turned out.
