Default There was an earthquake this morning

At around 4:00 AM I woke up to a noise that I couldn't figure out what it was. I think there might have been a little rumbling. Then this morning I find out that it was a small earthquake. I had never experienced one (there was one here a few years ago but I slept through it) until this morning. All I can say is wow.

Cool isn't it (when they're just small and you sway a bit - not the big ones)!!

I've been through two. The second one was when we were living on the 6th floor of an apt. and the hanging plants REALLY swayed then. I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on since we don't live in an area where they occur that much or all that strong!

VERY small change that should probably be reflected: USGS slightly adjusted the scale measurement to 3.9

For what it's worth, http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqs...uakes_all.html
Is a list of every earthquake reported in the US in the last week at a magnitue greater than a 3.0 (Which is approximately the point in which humans start to feel earthquakes)

It's an interesting site...surf around, you can view the world list, change it to a list of ALL earthquakes (Greater than 1.0)...You'll be surprised how many 1.0-3.0 quakes there are/

I felt it. That jolt woke me up, and it was loud too. Then in the morning I heard on the news that it was an earthquake of 4.0. They also said there was an aftershock 4 minutes after, but I didn't feel that. What really made me mad was that that dang thing busted one of my Dish Network boxes

What - was it shaken off something or just no longer works?

(cuz I got a message on my receiver this afternoon saying there was new software to download). Just wondering

I can still watch TV, but it's in black and white! LOL!! I know it isn't my TV because I tried watching something without the dish, and it was in color. Geez, I didn't think it was THAT hard to actually break the dish! The funny this is that I have another dish box in a different room (the one that broke was in the living room, and it didn't fall off anything) and that one is just fine.

You're kidding??? Black and white only? That's so funny!!

I would have said something happened to the t.v.'s guns (if you have a big screen) but yeah, if you can watch cable without then......talk about Twilight Zone material?! Ya sure Rod Serling isn't standing in a corner, narrating your day??!

I'd call Dish or check your agreement and see if they'll exchange or repair things due to "acts of God"!!

At first I thought it was the TV since it's a 35 inch, but after I checked it out without the dish, I knew what happened.

Yeah, I already called and I'm getting it replaced.

I live in the Southern California area and I didn't feel it. I was asleep.

That's because it was only a 3.9 quake based down near San Diego ...a 3.9 quake is not gonna be felt that far from the center - not even close to Bellflower.

I slept through a 4.9 100 miles north of here two years ago, so don't feel bad! It was the strongest earthquake in a long time here, and I slept through it.
