Thumbs up "The Wonderful World of Disney"

Do you remember the TV show "The Wonderful World of Disney"? That was the original show from way back in the 60's. It was used to be on Sunday nights for a long time on NBC while Ed Sullivan was on another network, CBS. Back then they used to show 2-part hour long movies both from theatrical and non-theatrical. The 2-part hour long non-theatrical movies are sometimes called a mini-series. I have the book called "The Wonderful World of Disney Television". It gives you all the episode guides and airdates of what episode was aired or probably a number of repeats. I have lots of video tapes of all the 2-part hour long mini-series of movies that were shown on "The Wonderful World of Disney". I have "The Flight of the Grey Wolf", "Justin Morgan Had a Horse", "Hog Wild", "The Wacky Zoo of Morgan City", "The Horsemasters", "The Magnificent Rebel", "Ballerina", "Johnny Shiloh" plus a whole lot more. I love that show. It used to be on Disney Channel since it was used to be an overnight block called "Vault Disney". But not anymore. I hope that all of the one hour mini series will ended up on DVD soon. I used to love that show, but I missed it a lot. The show was used to be on back in the 60's and the 70's. I wasn't even born yet since Disney was used to be on every Sunday.

I'll give a couple of titles of the Disney spin-off shows that has been on over the years. The show was originally called "Disneyland" back in 1954 until 1958. There are a few spin-off shows that Disney made. Here are the following titles:

1. "Walt Disney Presents" (1958-61)
2. "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" (1961-69)
3. "The Wonderful World of Disney" (1969-79)
4. "Disney's Wonderful World" (1979-81)
5. "Walt Disney" (1981-83)
6. "The Wonderful World of Disney" (1980's syndicated rerun title)
7. "The Magical World of Disney" (1988-90)
8. "The Wonderful World of Disney" (1997-present)

I have vivid memories of eating mom's Sunday roast beef dinner on t.v. trays in front of the t.v. every Sunday watching Disney. Walt himself would host and do a little setup in his "office" before the show. Always used to imagine him (or Mel Blanc) as my grandfather - he had such a sweet, friendly manner about him.

It was always a good show. I think My Three Sons would follow it at 7 p.m.

Actually, in real life, Disney was all businessman, and litterally neglected his only daughter Diane
